Default do you all own high end systems?

Hi,
I was wondering if you all own those expensive systems for audio. I'm really a follower to uncompressed audio and stuff, but I just own a creative system for HTPC and sony earbuds. When I see that to get a REAL sound from 5.1 PCM you need an amplifier/receiver + speakers at at least $1000 each I feel like of futile.

I just can't afford them
What do you have?

Great speakers are far less expensive than $1000 unless you were talking about receivers. My receiver cost me $1100, worth every cent but my speaker system was built through birthdays and Christmases. It took a while, but it's done now. I thought I'd never have a sweet system but now I'm pleased.

Since I blew out my ears a long time ago in the "Boom Car" craze(Pontiac Sunbird with two Zeus amps bridged for mono and a couple of Zapcos... yeah, it was loud), it doesn't really matter to me as long as I can hear the movie in some fashion.
Maybe some year I'll get a *HT in a Box* just to have... not like I will ever be able to really appreciate it though.

Just enjoy what you have for now. There will come a time when you'l be able to upgrade if you wanted.

My own setup is fairly decent, but by no means top of the line or even close to that. Do I enjoy it? Abso-freagin'-lutely!

You can enjoy great lossless sound for far less. $300 or maybe even less for a receiver and speakers for far less as well.

Nope. I do have a kickass TV but the loudspeakers inside the TV are good enough. The Home Theater audio fancy stuff is way too expensive. Sound is great but it should come second to picture and a REAL GOOD audio system is thousands of Euros and way more than the TV which is not something normal IMO.

Middle-of-the-road gear for me. Nothing near $1000 for my receiver. Even though I did get a great deal on it, its retail/MSRP was like $700. Speakers were also had on a pretty good deal, but of course I've got the upgraditis bug and REALLY want to get something better.

I recently set up a pseudo home theater setup in my bedroom, so I'm thinking of moving my current speakers up there, then getting something newer (i.e. BIGGER) for the living room/main home theater.

The Blu-ray players I have are also mid-level. My TVs are probably a tad past the center of the dial, but definitely nowhere near Kuro status.

nah, I've done a lot of work for my system piecing it together but it's no where near High end

Onkyo 605 for $311 off of amazon, great reciever, can be bitstreamed all codecs
Insignia Bs-21111 speakers in 5.1 setup (these babies are very under rated speakers for the price, not the best but they are nice)
2 subs...these cost me a bit but they're sooooo worth it... SVS PB-10--$450...SVS PCI 20-39----$550....
and speaker wire from monoprice.

so only about $1500 for the sound system, rips the walls down too

since I live in an apartment, I mostly listen to music with two main speakers. I recently bought a Marantz sr8400 from ebay replacing my onkyo 606 soon to be sold. I have Vienna Acoustics Bach's as main speakers which will be sold and replaced with Jammo speakers.

I don't have anything from Mcintosh if that's what you're implying lol. I haven't had the $ to go all out on sound yet. The speakers inside the tv are suiting me just fine...

My system was fairly expensive FOR ME. Not so much for some others here though, and I don't consider it to be high-end.

No disrespect intended, but I'm gonna have to disagree with you on this. I didn't think it was all that important either, until I heard it. Now there's no going back.
