Default Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol (Collector's Ed.) on November 16th

You may laugh, but Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol is by far my favorite adaptation of the story. I typically cringe when characters start singing an animated movie, but I love all of the songs in this one. This is a true animated classic.

I haven't seen this particular one in a long long time. They used to have it on TV every Christmas here but I don't think it's been on since the 80's. Would be fun to see it again.

They seem to be jumping into Blu-ray this year with all their holiday tentpoles, but they only have one track record to go by on quality....Until I hear different, I won't expect a bowl of razzleberry dressing.

The Allister Sim version is my favorite live action of Christmas Carol and Mr Magoo is my favorite animated version as well. If the reviews are good on this one I might bite.

"Winter was Warm" is a classic love is over song.

The DVD was so remarkably more colorful than the laserdisc version (a surprise, to me). So I am hoping the Blu-ray will be even better.

The review is up on this site. I am so happy to see that it looks fantastic since I was expecting the worst.

I don't think I've ever seen this! I'll have to check it out.

Though Mickey's Christmas Carol is the best animated Dickens adaptation

What the heck is going on in this screengrab, the transfer on the disc is 1080p correct? Whats with the interlace?

That isn't interlacing. In this case, it actually looks like an unintentional shadow effect from the increase in the sharpness and resolution of the animation, but at worst, it could be haloing.

I'll take your word for it, when I ran it through the Photoshop deinterlace filter (eliminating odd fields and interpolating for the new fields) it came out looking "normal" but that might be a coincidence that just works for that particular frame. Just curious what was going on there.

I bought my copy at Fry's over the weekend. I haven't watched it yet. I'll probably wait when it gets closer to Christmas.

No love for this movie. Not in stores locally. I probably won't see a discount on this one and wanted to use my $5 BB RZ certificate on this but I guess they won't be carrying this in store.

Was Just at BARNES & NOBLE and this title rang up at $13.99 plus I had my membership card... so not a bad price at all.

And this is the sturdiest single disc packaging I've ever seen. My package was in really good condition. For the price a great value.

Thanks for the heads up PP! I hadn't even thought about this release. A big animation from my glorious days of youth. I was 4 or 5 when it first came out and remeber it being run every year for Christmas.

My local store has a copy available...I'll see what price they have it for and figure membership discount and any appropriate coups.

The back cover doesn't reference region coding for the BLU only states REGION 1 but I believe that is for the DVD coding.

It is distributed by VIVENDI so not sure if they usually region lock their titles.

The e-mail I got after I did the instore Reserve gave me the price listed as 13.99 :-) I know there is a 15% off coupon floating around out there also. (Good also for non-members)

Thanks!

Believe it or not, there is also a 20% coup for members.
