Default Jon and Kate + 8 ....

Well, my wife and I just watched the season opener. Without revealing our feelings about it I was curious what others on this board felt about it?

I can't decide if it's fake or not yet. I mean if it is they did tons of setup and staged it very well.

Plus they had to plan this out for a year or two.

It's weird watching the show like this. I was right about to make a thread for it too.

i used watch this show casually with my gf. i enjoyed the first few seasons very much but have since despise the show, well not the show, but the wife. she is a total btch. her transformation is evident from the early days of being a humble housewife letting the husband be the breadwinner into now running the show.

i feel like she's way into herself and her looks and her hairdo. she complains about how much hard work it is to narrate the shows but doesn't complain when they are bringing in 75k per episode. she writes books about how hard it is to take care of 8 kids but then doesn't really watch them much as she is always on the road doing speeches and appearances. she is turning these speeches and appearances and book signings into a career when she should be at home watching the kids.

i feel bad for the kids.

Well here are our thoughts on the show...

First specifically about tonight's show...
1. Very sad that Jon and Kate never gave interviews together....
2. Hate to say it but did Jon seem drunk in his interviews?
3. Very sad that they had to adjust their lives to the Paprazzi.
4. WOW, you could cut the tension with a knife between John and Kate in the show. They barely talked and never sat together. Can you say AWKWARD.
5. I hate to say it but the personal issues of the show make for great TV! I don't think the producers could written a better script!
6. Holy cow was that rabbit FAT!
7. The show has morphed from a family show to a Soap opera, which is not necessarily a bad thing for ratings. We definitely will tune in for more, good or bad.

About the show in general...
1. As many who followed the show know, it's very sad that somehow key characters in the show have been FORCED out of the show, ie Aunt Jody and Beth. It's weird that none of them were at the sextuplets B-day party. How do you have B-Day party for the kids and not have any relatives there? Weird. This is our biggest beef with the show.
2. We always have and always will LOVE those kids! Happy to see Madi not get abused much tonight like she has in the last several years.. I think Madi is gonna be awesome when she gets older! She is probably our favorite kid!
3. Kate needs to stop belittling and abusing Jon. At least she acknowledged it on the show.
4. Jon needs to grow up and stop being stupid.
5. Kate is not my favorite but she gets piled on a bit too much.

Well we've given alot of ammo for people to create a lively discussion so have at it!

I was not aware that Jon quit his job two years ago to take care of the kids.

They are really taking the time to try and make her look like supermom.

How can she be that when he was the one taking care of everything while she was on a book tour and giving speeches?

This show has had a great run, and if it wasnt for the greed I believe Kate woulda sided with John and left the show after season 4...which they should have then they wouldnt be in the situation they are in now...they would be back to living a normal family lifestyle, kids not waking up to camera's, and worrying about the papparazzi. Sure they show provided those kids with lots of possiblities they wouldnt of never been able to give to them, but all great shows come to an end and it should of....it would of saved there marriage and kept there family together!

This show has definitely gotten better over the past couple seasons, and it's for the wrong reasons I guess which is the soap opera drama. We started watching this because we have multiples and can relate to some extent of the craziness (3 not 8!!), but the show has for sure gone beyond anything we'd ever dream of. Entertaining but kind of sad none the less.

My wife and I have watched every episode and we love it!

1. Whether John or Kate is at home "alone" watching the kids, they have plenty of help. They have a couple of nannies, plus all of the producers/camera men, etc who are at their house 18 hrs. a day. So they are not alone. I won't say it is easy for them, but they do have a lot of help.

2. That rabbit was very fat!
3. What is up with John rolling up to his kids party, fashionably late in a souped up 350Z?
4. Divorce seem inevitable for John and Kate.
5. The kids are cuter than ever. Accept for Cara.
6. What happened to John going to the gym? He needs to get back on track if he is going to be single soon.

It's starting to seem that way. I think the best thing for them and the kids would have been to get out of the show once one of them didn't feel comfortable with it anymore.

I agree with everything you said. It's too bad. This season seems like it's going to be a train wreck. I read that over 4.5 million people watched the finale last season. I wonder how many tuned in to this episode.

I bet 6 million or more. They have had a lot of publicity in the tabloids. My wife keeps me up to date on that stuff.

I just watched the show with my wife, and wow it looks like #### has really hit the fan. It is very sad though. They should have got out after last year. It always seemed to me that Kate was a bit of a b####, guess I'm not the only 1.

My wife and I have watched the show off and on over the last few seasons and always found it entertaining. We have three kids (two year old girl and 3 month old twin girls), so we can relate to the craziness of raising kids. We would always be amused when Kate would get on John about any little thing. Then we'd laugh when clips of the show would end up on "The Soup". They had running gags about how John was beaten down looking for "any" way out of the relationship and the show. Who knew how right on they were?

Tonight's episode was crazy. They said they would address the recent controversy, but man...S**t really hit the fan. Sadly, this made for great TV. It seems like they are headed for a divorce. I feel really bad for the kids.

No matter how many kids you have, your marriage needs to be a priority. A happy mother and father = happy kids and strong relationships. If you feel like your marriage isn't worth saving or fighting for, you might as well give up. These two definitely look like they’ve given up. Especially watching the interview at the end of the show where they say they are "there for the kids."

It's really a shame.

my gf watches this show religiously. i hate how they sold out their family, and LOVE what is happening to the family. what did they expect?? i can't imagine what it would be like to raise 8 children, and i could see the benefit of a TV show paying for everything...did they really think all of that stuff would cost nothing, other than letting film crews follow them 2-3 days a week?

Me and the wife watch this show occasionally. Usually its on in the background whilst we check email.

We did watch last nights season premiere (and many of the re-runs that led up to it), and its hard to not feel bad for Jon. He seems like a descent guy (besides running around with that other woman), and he really loves his kids. Kate has turned into an attention-*****.

If one scene sums up her involvement with the kids, its when one of the little ones walked up to her at the end of the show and said "Thank you for the party, Mommy" and he had to say it twice for her to hear it. She was more involved with watching the photographers than her own kids.

Coming soon on TLC "Jon + 4, Kate + 4"
