According to a user in our German cinefacts forum, the Australian release has inherited the reversed left and right channels from the UK release .

Gestern die australische "Cliffhanger" BD bekommen (Vertrieb Universal) und das Auftauchen des Optimum-Logos verhieß nichts Gutes. Jepp, obwohl der Release in Down Under ja jetzt so viel später erfolgte, ist es eine 1:1 Kopie der immer noch fehlerhaften UK-Auflage, sprich Stereokanäle auch hier weiterhin vertauscht!

To sum it up:
The Australien release, though distributed by Universal, seems to be a clone of Optimums UK blu-ray (there even appears an Optimum logo), and also has the reversed channels...

I rented the AUS release, average transfer, kind of what you would expect from a older catalog title, not bad, but not great either. Im pretty sure AnyDVDHD said it was less than 20gb, so not a massive bitrate.

Wasn't the Optimum blu-ray release the censored version that the UK has had for years? Does that mean our one is censored too?

The Optimum blu-ray is the first uncensored release of Cliffhanger in the UK. Too bad it came along with the reversed channels...
