How many of your Blus have been "Blind buys" - Blu-ray Forum

Was curious to see how many of you buy your Blus without having seen that movie already first. This will probably vary among age groups since I haven't been able to see as many movies as others in my years. Personally, I'm younger and I didn't own many DVDs before I switched over to Blu, so about half my collection as it stands now were blind buys.

Another question would be, how many of your Blus did you buy based solely on PQ or AQ reviews that you had read about that particular movie?

Curious Case Of Benjamin Button was a blind buy for me.

Really enjoyed it, excellent PQ and AQ on this one.

Used to do alot of blind buys on DVD but not anymore.For me to do a blind buy now the movies has to be real good with excellent PQ and AQ.

I would say about 40-45 % of my Blu's where blind buys ! 3 of them I wish I had not purchased ~ O-well !!

I regret some blind buys and others have worked out well but I have a decent mix. I'm trying to avoid them more lately as it's money I could spend on a movie I know I'd be happy to own.

I blind buy based on different reviews (here, rt, imdb), sometime user reviews if they are there and on the PQ/AQ. If the movie is bad but the PQ/AQ is brilliant, i'm still not going to blind buy, but i'll rent it.

are a few of my blind buys.

Generally I only blind buy movies I know I'm going to like, I'd say about 20% of my collection are blind buys. If I don't like them I trade them away, as seen by my trade score.

I'd say just under 25% of my collection were blind buys. Which will just increase as new movies come out.

I didn't used to go to the cinema very much, so the majority of the 120+ collection were blind buys!

Unfortunately I have fallen into this trap a few times. I have blind bought a some based on great reviews and haven't been disappointed. However, there have been a select few that I shouldn't have even messed with since I ended up not enjoying the movie that much.

About 1/3 I don't watch movies at the theaters anymore its cheaper to just to buy it in most cases.

I took a quick look at my collection and was surprised to estimate almost 50% blind buys. Only two regrets so far – not a bad track record for blind buying so much. I’m either easily impressed, or I do my research; probably the latter.

I think the same could be said for me as well. I get a lot of movies just because they are new or I heard from someone else that they were god.
