Australia Larger front speaker?

G'day all,

I recently made a new thread asking for advice to which i should purchase for my new HT.

I've made my decision as i've found a local shop that sells decent gear.

My question is, is it wise to purchase 4 x Standing speakers that are the same (5.1), or should i purchase 2 slightly larger (the upgrade) speakers for the front 2?

For example:
Option 1:
Front & Rear:

Option 2:
Front:
http://www.digitalhome.com.au/Tvs_An...(Cherry)/22060

Rear:
http://www.digitalhome.com.au/Tvs_An...Speakers/20738

Help much appreciated.

Cheers

Have you listened to them yet?

The fronts are far more important than the surrounds though.....

Yeh i did get a chance to listen to them, but with a cheap Yamaha Amp, so it wasn't the Onkyo 606 that i'm planning on purchasing.

I noticed that the more expensive speaker has a slightly cleaner sound, is also a tad louder than the cheaper one. But that may have been the setup?

You have to remember that the surrounds are more for ambiance and that the vast majority of sound will come from your FRONTS & CENTRE. There are several people here (including Crazyblue) who have floorstanders for their surrounds and their centre as well. It's a personal choice I think.

For me....I'm a 2-channel guy (90% music), so I wouldn't personally make the investment.

John is right about the surr. not being as important as the fronts ! The reason My surr. & surr. rears are towers is because my room is not to bookshelf speaker friendly !!
