Default Movies that the PQ changes throughout the whole movie.

I just watched Die Hard with a Vengeance and noticed that the PQ quality during the beginning credits were horrible. Then most of the movie was pretty good but here and there some shots just sucked. Has any one seen this in other movies?

Run Lola Run was filmed with various quality cameras/film, and it shows throughout the BD release. I still highly recommend this movie, though!

I almost said except for TDK. I guess I have too much faith in my fellow members.

Run Lola Run (which I watched again last night by the way ) was shot like that intentionally..... or I would assume so.... some shots had split-screens, where one was VHS quality, and I think it was done as part of the director's intent.... either way, it's a good movie, and I don't think it is the same thing as what the OP is talking about...... I don't remember the movie the OP is talking about well enough (in terms of the Blu-ray transfer) so it may be a re-mastering issue

Ghostbusters....didn't bother me but it was brought up by my fiancee a couple of times. "That looks really grainy" but "That looks pretty good" and "Wow, that looks horrible" Well, I guess i'm rubbing off on her!

Well, you have to take a step back here and look at the big picture. I think sometimes we forget that people are working very hard to make these movies. Of course they WANT a consistent look, but sometimes they have to settle. Whether the lighting doesn't quite work, or the location is too small to get the right amount of lights in or they were in a rush to get a lot of shots off in a day or whatever it might be.

I've made projects myself where I'll say, "this shot looks amazing" and others on the same project where I'll say "I'm the worst filmmaker ever." Blu-ray has just given us the capability to notice such inconsistencies. Personally, it makes me feel great to see such inconsistencies. It lets me know that even the professionals aren't perfect.

I agree, I've seen a few movies on BD that the PQ was not always equal but since it's always about 1000 times better PQ then a DVD well I don't want to complaint about it. There is always a danger of becoming a PQ snob and that would probably prevent everyone from seeing still very good movies even if the PQ is not always equal.

It was like that in the theater too. Pretty sure it was intentional.

The Dirty Dozen is probably the most obvious example of a movie in which the PQ changes from scene to scene.

Based on my current collection..I'd say Predator. I stated that earlier on the Predator bad transfer thread.

Default Bone Collector

The Bone Collector HD DVD changed a lot. It went from good to awful to OK. Pretty helter-skelter. That's prolly why the US version of the BD hasn't come out yet.

I thought the PQ changed quite a bit throughout Predator. Some scenes to me looked very very good considering the source material. Others had very heavy grain though. I'm not knocking the grain, just noting the difference.
