Default Need help - Blu-Ray drives - what to do.

Ok...

I bought a Blu-Ray drive for my PC:
Liteon DH-401S BR Player

I installed it (plus all the software: Latest PowerDVD, AnyDVDHD - updated the firmware)
Tried to play Iron Man. Worked fine for first 30 mins or so, then it started skipping... then I discovered the whole second half of the movie couldn't even be read by the drive.

What I can't figure out is if this is:
*A faulty drive
*A limitation the drive has (can't read some discs)
*A faulty Disc
*Some setting or problem with my system.

I don't know what to do really. I have also heard that the Iron Man disc was recalled? I guess it could be that too. Unfortunately I don't have any other Blu-rays to try at the moment.

Does anyone know if Blu-Ray drives just can't play all discs? If that's the case I would prefer not to even bother with one.
Or maybe there's a better drive I should get?

:specs
Duo Core 2.0ghz
8800GT
2GB RAM
Windows XP

More info:

I tried playing the disc again using PowerDVD and manged to be able to play some of the second half of the movie (for the first time after many tries)... the drive then made a nasty sound and the whole drive disappeared from windows (had to restart to get it back.)

Does anyone think there could be some kind of necessary Bios setting that could be wrong, or if so would that mean it wouldn't work at all?

I'm beginning to think the drive might be faulty, but If I get a replacement and it turns out the same I won't know what to think.

Im thinking you might need more horse power in your PC...2gb ram might not be enough?

also, did you make sure to disable 'bd live' feature in PowerDVD. Perhaps its trying to connect to the net while playing and just stalling out? anyways, I always turn this feature off...its useless in my book.

2GB of RAM not enough?
Well, I don't see how half the movie could play fine if that was the case. I thought 2GB of RAM was loads (for XP at least.)

Nah... I did disable Blu-Ray live. Makes no difference.

Thanks anyway.

Make sure to clean the disc too. I've gotten many rented movies that would play halfway and then start to skip. A good clean was all I needed. 2 gigs of ram should be enough as long as you don't have anything running in the background.

Thanks for that info. Perhaps the disc is faulty, it's clean but I'm wondering if it was authored wrong or something (in such a way that the second layer won't play.) That's all that I can think of, perhaps the second layer of discs are more sensitive to read or something.
