Buy a receiver with pre-outs for all the channels such as Yamaha/Pioneer Elite/Denon/Onkyo/Marantz and a multi-channel amplifier such as Emotiva.

HTVirgin:

Nobody really talks about Sherwood Newcastle Receivers. Let me be the first on this forum to recommend them to you. Look specifically at the R-872(or maybe a lower model) as it fits right in your budget. And don't let the Watts/channel power rating fool you. Truth be told, Sherwood NC makes receivers for Denon and I would consider these receivers are in the same league as Rotels, NADs and the like. You can also add an amp later.

I purchased a used Sherwood Newcastle amp A965. I received it today. I will give a review on it when my kefs arrive tom and I am able to actually use it. But the amp is huge 90lbs. @ toridial transformers inside. I hope it is as good as the reviews I have read on it.

That amp is as good as they sayThe toroidal TFs on that amp are monsters. Its just so sad that a lot of people on this forum are so close-minded and will just stick with the usual Denon, Marantz, Pioneer, Onkyo receivers when there are more quality products out there to be had for equal or less $$$.

BTW, the R-972 has the Trinov room eq software
