Default my sub walks!

folks - i've got a rather large and heavy sub that WALKS on my hardwood floor. surprises me, since it is so heavy to move manually. every time i watch the "echo game" scene in house of flying daggers, my sub moves several inches and ends up bumping into my main right speaker!

any input on what i can do to put an end to this? i am not interested in raising the sub up off the floor on a riser for asthetic reasons ala swmbo.

any recommendations for some type of rubber/other compound to attach to the sub's feet to keep it in place?

thanks!

What type of flooring do you have? If it is hardwood flooring, have you thought about a small rug or something from Auralex, like a Gramma?

The Auralex Gramma would probably take care of that, but it's a riser. I cringe to think what's that's doing to the finish on the sub and the floor. You can also try some simple rubber feet- Wal-Mart has several varieties in the hardware section for cheap. Otherwise, a piece of carpet or welcome mat could also do the trick. Even blu-tack might work for awhile, but I would think it'd eventualy flatten out and/or pry loose.

A cheap try is some double sided tape on the 4 legs, and tape that mover down. LOL

Mine use to do that and like the rest have said, just go buy a small carpet and put under it.

If I were you I would never watch that movie again and I would call a priest!

Seriously, Since the cause is the vibration, you may consider looking into spikes (w/ spike pads). Here's an example from ebay, but there are many other places to buy:

Is SWMBO aware a riser like a subdude or Gramma would only raise the sub less than 3"? It would save the finish on the sub, the finish on the floor, and likely improve the overall sound and possibly reduce or eliminate other vibrations throughout the room.

Get some small rubberized "Cups" they sell to put under bed legs.....

A four pack at Home-Depot will set you back $2-$3
