France What happened to the UK/Optimum releases of Le Mepris and Belle De Jour?

What happened to the UK/Optimum releases of Le Mepris and Belle De Jour?

They seem to have vanished. Were they available for a short time and then sold out, or canceled or what? Those were great looking packages.

Hello,

I am fairly certain they sold out. But they should be back in stock very soon. No worries, the Studio Canal Collection is not a limited time only affair.

It's been a while.

I'm starting to think these Optimum editions may have vansihed for good.

they are probably in line to get new versions pressed.
With all the bd releases coming out the bd pressing lines may be well booked.
a possibility.
they will be back at some point for sure.

Possible. But AMAZON UK has had some problems with several BDs that were originally listed as available, and then never shipped. They just cancelled my long standing pre-order for Red Shoes, due to unavailability. I had to give in and order it from HMV, which has double the shipping that Amazon UK does.

Likewise they carried Cabaret as a pre-order for almost a year, and then finally canceled it. Oh well... Let's hope they succeed in getting some stock on those titles...

well "Cabaret" never came out so that certainly doesn't count.
that's the same ridiculous company that was supposed to release "Straw Dogs" also.
I followed those pre-orders and delays and pre-orders and delays.....
well you get the idea.
I still have trouble getting that absurd debacle out of my mind.
btw: I now try to get these types of releases as fast as I can because, with bd getting more popular, certain titles are going out of stock a lot sooner that is for sure.

You can tell BD players are the big thing this Xmas season: on Netflix BD titles are ncreasingly flagged as "long wait", and I would expect a proper traffic jam after Xmas as everyone starts searching for titles to play on their new gear...

The Amazon US blow out pricing for BDs on Thanksgiving Weekend has made our poor friends in France look like they are being held for ransom by kidnappers or extorted by blackmailers... Even the Amazon UK pricing is usually 30-50% below France.

Hopefully, Amazon France will use the traditional SOLDES weeks for some more aggressive markdowns. Why, with a 50% discount, and the exchange rate where it is and the sky high Amazon FR shipping, you might even be able to buy a French BD for the equivalent of full price US... What a deal!

That is good news. AMAZON UK has, rather unexpectedly, become a great source of reasonably priced BD discs. Even with the pound at $1.60 the lack of VAT to foreign sales, low shipping to the US and more aggressively discounted pricing makes it the first choice over vastly overpriced AMAZON FR if the same title is available in both places, but not available in the US.

Thanks for the update! How does the quality of Le Mepris UK ( back in stock also) compare to the French release? Anyone know?
