Blacklist (Season 8) “MOD” - September 21, 2021 - Blu-ray Forum

Per TV Shows on DVD post this morning on Facebook, Blacklist will be released in Sony MOD 9/21/2021…

It will be replicated discs. List price is $59.99, but as usual you’ll likely be able to find it cheaper…

If Seasons 1-7 are any indictation we'll likely see the below in addition to perhaps an additional featurette or two.

This was the one hope I had; Sony does do MOD. But apparently the sales numbers for Blacklist on blu ray are laughable so I was on the fence over whether they would even bother with MOD.

I thought that might be the case because a few seasons ago Best Buy stopped selling the blu-ray in stores.

I suspect it will just be a pressed MOD version of discs that are sold at retail in various European countries. The seventh season apparently has Dutch and Nordic subtitles, even in the US.

It does seem that Sony Germany is dropping the show, though, which isn't good news. There is a pre-order for a German DVD version of the eighth season, but no Blu-ray:

It will be interesting to see what happens in Japan, since so far, they've had all the seasons on Blu-ray, but delayed from the ROW releases. If Germany, Australia and then Japan go DVD-only, we could be hanging by a thread in terms of continuing the series.

One thing's for sure, everybody better buy the season eight release, because obviously, your purchases count now more than ever.

I don’t see the show lasting much longer. I wouldn’t be shocked if the next season is the last one. It would suck if the last season ends up being dvd like Blindspot.

Season 9 will for sure be the last season, I just hope the writers go into it expecting as much and don't end it on a cliffhanger. It feels like the show has been on the bubble its entire time on air and now that one of the stars and the showrunner have left, it feels like it's time to wrap it up.

As for the (presumably) final season's physical release....season 8's MOD release gives me much more hope about it.

Blindspot was WB, who more than any other studio has gleefully abandoned blu ray for TV shows with just 1 or 2 seasons left (Shameless and Blindspot, as well as some HBO shows like The Deuce) and shows no interest whatsoever in MOD.

I went ahead and cataloged this release in DVD Profiler and My Movies this morning. Once I've got the Blu-ray release in my hands I'll be updating things accordingly of course.

Not knowing the episode breakdown per disc yet I just mirrored what was done for the Season 6 Blu-ray release, the most recent Blu-ray release with 22 episodes across 5 discs.

The completist in me would love to see The Blacklist: Redemption released on Blu-ray as well. Doubt it will ever happen, but you never know. Decided over the weekend to purchase the AmazonPrime offering. Downloaded the episodes authoring to Blu-ray.

That being said, I've been jonesing to watch Season 8. Looking forward to the Blu-ray release in a couple months. In the interim the above should make for a nice distraction. Famke Janssen in 1080p at 150" diagonal. Yeah, I'd call that a distraction. To each his own naturally.

Funnily enough I came to this thread to post about Redemption. I know the sole season was included with the S4 DVD of The Blacklist, but not with the S4 BD. I wonder if anyone on here got that DVD set with the two of them, as I am trying to determine if there were any extras for Redemption on the discs for it.

I don't own any of the DVD's, but did check Nexflix just now as I subscribe to their disc rental service. Sadly, they only have the actual S4 discs available to rent so. Perhaps someone who owns Redemption on DVD will chime in.

Found an image of the back of the Season 8 Blu-ray which states it is Region Free so same as Season 7. Can anyone who has the US release for Season 7 confirm it is Region Free? I don't see no reason why the info on the back would be wrong but i want to be sure that Season 8 is Region Free or atleast Region B compatible before purchasing :-)
