Keep in mind, realistically, 1 wpc is sufficient for most circumstances.
Also, each 3db increase in volume requires roughly double the power to achieve. My denon 4520 sounds excellent running 9 speaker (plus 2 on external amp). I have no clipping or distortion. To improve my audio or loudness I'd need to spend THOUSANDS on amplifiers; which wouldn't be sonically discernible for most people. That money would be much better utilized on better speakers. |

I would say that ninety percent of my music listening is done with less than one watt. I have two center channels that I run and during most movies this is about the same. During music sessions where the wife is out of the house I have used about 200 watts on the left and right channels with sustained watts around 50 or 60. Typically when I'm listening at loud volumes I'm only using a max of 20 watts.
