Angry Spamers Running Wild

For the last couple of weeks there has been a marked increased in the amount of new threads created by Spamers. I get to work very early and there's usually a bunch of threads running by 7 am EST. It really gets annoying to get bombarded by all their garbage. The mods do a great job, but it appears that Spam is getting worse. We have the Spamer who pretends to be a female to plug a 30% interest a day site, the self pleasure Spamer with story to boot, a religious Spamer, the iphone Spamer, ect. In all of those instances the Spamer creates a thread with their first post. I believe that restricting the ability to create new threads until a member has, lets say 20 posts, will curtail those vermin. Any thoughts?

But what if they then turn to mass spam posting Are "they" even that smart?

I have noticed an increase as well, although it definitely seems the mods are generally able to snatch the threads pretty quickly. Also I guess I'm misinformed...I thought there already was some kind of restriction set for newbies who had to post a certain amount before they were able to create their own threads?

I was also under that impression Sudio, but all of them create a thread with their first post. Embarking on mass postings is not an option for Spamers here, because it will not give them exposure. After they post a couple of times, they will be reported and banned. Thus, no visibility for their efforts.

New members are not allowed to hyperlink without mod approval, so there is a lot of spam you don't even see. The worst is the signature spammers or the ones that don't hyperlink. A lot of the ones from the past couple of weeks have shared the same set of IPs, there is a request in for an IP ban. No rest for the wicked!!! Report it and we will get it ASAP!

Every time I see one I make sure to make a zany post then report it. I figure the zany post will give the mods a laugh when they delete the parent.

Yeah, we're trying to keep it under control. It has been more than usual though lately...

The forum has been growing a bit faster lately and is becoming an increasingly juicy target for spammers. We will add some more/stricter filters to stop this. The report button has also been broken for quite some time, no idea why, I will investigate that.

No one has mentioned the Shoe spammer! I haven't seen that one around in a while.

I guess most things get cleaned up early in the morning because I haven't noticed a big increase in spam lately. I did notice the
[Show spoiler] when penis meets vagina
one like a minute before it was removed though.

Oh, didn't know that.
But I always reply to those threads, letting the spammers know that regular members are vigilant. To show my/our hatred for spam.
