Default Alan's Movie Room

This was a compromise between my wife and myself. I wanted a home theater, she wanted a family room. I relented and made it a “Movie Room”. I did all the work myself and I am happy with the outcome so far. We needed another bedroom so I turned the upstairs of the garage into another bedroom and turned the rest of the garage into this.

Please let me know what you think of it.

It took me a while, but yes, except for the rug, I did all the work myself. Thanks for the Fusball table upgrade sugestion. This one gets allot of use, so I am sure I'll need a replacement in the next year or two.

I am finding we spend most of our time home, down in this room.

Star Wars arcade! Man, my buddy's dad had this back in the day. We'd play on it for hours. He (the dad) could play ONE GAME for hours. We were never able to come close to his high score.

If I had one arcade game in the house, it'd be that one.

Nice set-up. Nice arcade game and foos-ball table. Alot like mine, except I don't have the room you do for a small bar or game table. But is a combination of a HT and a family room, which is similiar to yours. You have to keep the wife happy if you ever want new toys! Nice job!

Yeah that is kind of like mine as well. Girlfriend wanted a family room that was nice to look at and functional and I wanted an always dark, really cool, geeky nerdy room. It is all about compromises.

Added a couple of more pics.

The project was a lot of hard work, but well worth it.

Thanks for all the great comments.

Default Very Nice!

Excellent Deals you got on some of those speakers!! Damn.

How is that Polk 12" sub? I'll be ordering my PA-120 Sub tomorrow, after going back/forth with that & the AA HD-Sub12.

Aero, It took a while to get everything, I wish I found out about the Polk e-bay site earlier. The Monitor 60's were Referbs. The PSW12 was a display model that was being discontinued. I took a chance and have been very happy with it. I am no expert, but I have never felt it was lacking. After looking at your gallery the other day, I am planning to build a riser for it and I also want to fill it with poly-fill. Those will be my next upgrades.

Oh I hear you on that - my stuff took a while; researching stuff, waiting on the right prices (NEWEGG! ), talking to people here, reading, reading, etc. Glad the PSW12 is working out for you. The "Riser" for my Front/Main sub I found at Walmart - $23 table - & had bought a SubDude beforehand, so I just put it & the Sub on top of the table. It sounds Great now, but for the Really top-notch LFE Blurays (we all know most of those, right?!), it sometimes is lacking. So i'm sure the PA-120 will really provide the Added OOMMPPHHH & Punch for those Blurays & really improve my LFE overall. Lol - Now I just need to sell the PSW10.

Great setup. Where did you get the DVD shelves? I am looking for a good solution to house my collection. Thanks!

BASISON, I picked them up from Best Buy. I purchased 2 DVD racks and placed them next to each other. I secured the top of each of the racks, into a stud in the wall as I wanted to ensure the kids couldn't accidently tip one on themselves. They are a great, inexpensive way to go, but if you have the skill, nothing beats custom shelves.
