Three of the seasons are shit, but I'm glad it's happening. Hopefully they'll retroactively do it for Gabon thru Nicaragua, as those seasons all aired in HD as well

I'd really only say one of those is awful (RI). I think OW and SP are meh level, Philippines is easily top 15. My theory is that they will release HvV and Nicaragua on blu when they release Caramoan and BvW if these sell well enough.

As nice as it would be, the first six seasons look atrocious. There isn't much that can be done to them. Season 7-16 don't look much better. I believe season 17 was filmed and aired in hd, but there aren't any HD versions out there for purchase. I would love 17 (Gabon) to be released on blu. Easily one of the most stunning seasons.

A shame that these are BD-R, hopefully, this doesn't affect how proper TV is released.

Amazon has been selling dvd-r's of this, and many other series for a long time. Fact is, there are some releases that would never have seen the light of day if not for their on-demand disc offerings.

That doesn't mean they should be offering BD-R releases. It's fine if they want to offer exclusives or limited editions, but they need to be on pressed Blu-ray media, not BD-R.

On DVD Philippines & One World came out just last week, on the 23rd. The 2 formats aren't necessarily connected and Blu-ray's could still be released, but of course usually both formats get released at the same time, so it might be a bad sign.

yup.. noticed that... but the last 2 releases before that (South Pacific and Redemption Island) also only got announced for blu-ray AFTER they´ve already released the DVDs.... same with the MOD releases for Amazing Race
seems like a pretty good way to ensure more people buy the dvd´s.. most prolly won´t double dip for the $45 they´re asking (or wanna wait longer)

I am guessing they are no longer releasing this show on Blu Ray, because even some seasons that were briefly available on Blu are no longer sold on Amazon, but I can't find any info whatsoever

The show was temporarily removed from Prime Streaming, then returned. Some suspected this had to do with CBS trying to push their All Acess digital platform. You have to wonder in the era of digital, if they're trying in the long run to force people to subscribe to their service.

Hmm, that does make sense I guess. I also saw that there were some quality control issues with some of the releases apparently, episodes missing or doubled. Not sure if that's the same with the DVDs. I actually received my preorder of Cambodia last year, so it was interesting to see that it was already unavailable.

The only ones that actually got a BD-R release were:

One World
Philippines
Caramoan Fans vs. Favorites
Blood vs. Water
Cagayan
Worlds Apart
Cambodia Second Chance

"Worlds Apart" was defective in that it didn't include the final episode before the reunion show. It instead repeated the episode before the missing one, so that episode is on there twice. They never fixed it and simply discontinued the item and pretty much gave up on BD-R's after that. The DVD-R set of "Worlds Apart" is not faulty and includes all the episodes.

And of course, there were "pre-order" pages up for other BD-R seasons like Redemption Island that stayed up for years, but those never materialized on to BD-R.
