I'm planning to buy a few Italian BD releases from Amazon.it, but since I can't find reviews or much info about them, I was wondering if anybody in here owns the following releases, and could tell me anything about their quality, and/or how they compare to other releases available:
-Ultimo Tango A Parigi (Last Tango in Paris): the Italian BD apparently has several special features; is it any good, and how does it compare to the US MGM BD? -A.C.A.B. All Cops Are Bastards: is it better/on par with the UK BD? -Prima Della Rivoluzione: is the transfer on par with the BFI BD? -Piccolo Buddha (Little Buddha) Thanks |

Thanks for your reply.
![]() I ordered Prima Della Rivoluzione and A.C.A.B.: All Cops Are Bastards. I'm going OOT a bit on my own topic, but since you are from Italy, can you please suggest me some recent worthwhile Italian films that are currently available on Blu-Ray or DVD (preferably on Blu-Ray, and English friendly)? I'm a big fan of Italian cinema, and many Italian directors (Bernardo Bertolucci, Michelangelo Antonioni, Sergio Leone, Mario Bava, Dario Argento, just to name a few), but when I look at it it's mostly "old" films, and to be honest I'm not very familiar with films made in Italy in the last few years. Last week I went to a small film festival dedicated to Italian cinema, and I rather enjoyed the films/shorts I watched, especially Romanzo Di Una Strage, and I had a great urge to check out "newer" films from Italy. ![]() |

I just got Prima della Revoluzione in the mail two days ago and it is a lovely edition. It is listed as Region Free and all the special features worked just fine on my Samsung player, but my PS3 would only play the feature.
Regardless, the picture looked marvelous. Very film-like with a bit rate that seemed to spike in the 30s. The intro by Scorsese is also fantastic. I highly recommend picking this edition up. |

Talking of recent films, I think you should check Bertolucci's Io e te (R2 DVD only) and Bellocchio's Bella addormentata (also available on BD), both English-friendly. Surely, not their greatest works, but still very engaging.

I looooved "Mine Vaganti" - it has English subs & it's really a stunner visually. I think this site did a review of it as well. If you like contemporary Italian drama, go for "L'Ultimo Bacio" and "Baciami Ancora" - beautifully shot & available on in a 2-pack BluRay for something like 12 euros.
All have English subs, but I believe they do require a Region-B or multi-region BD player. Kirby |

And the Region-B code is not a problem, since I'm located in Europe. ![]() |
