I guess so.
They can be considered as being alternate universes in the X-Men film multiverse (officially confirmed by a popular episode of Legion Season 2). Generation X also features Jubilee, Banshee and Emma Frost/White Queen, as well as the school. I hope there will be a blu-ray release of it in the future to come... Mutant X screams alternate universe. I like the series a lot. What do you think? |

GENERATION X is based on the X-Men comic book of the same name but it’s not part of any joint universe or continuity.

Legion isn't even in the film continuity itself.

Deadpool is a separate universe. Gifted is a separate universe. Legion is a separate universe. Maybe "Logan" is a separate universe. Ergo: Generation X and Mutant X could be part of the same X-Men film multiverse. Get my point? |

Except Mutant X which was made outside of the X-Men license and just meant to be similar to get viewers, regardless of Marvel's involvement... that's why there were lawsuits to keep them separate.

The mutants in Mutant X are different than the mutants in X-Men.
X-Men are naturally born mutants, but in Mutant X they were genetically engineered through government experiments. Mutant X was Marvel's attempt to create and sell a property similar to the X-Men as a television series, since Fox controlled the rights to X-Men on the big screen. Unfortunately for Marvel, Mutant X was too similar to the X-Men, and Fox sued them. The series was lucky enough to survive three seasons. |

Curiously enough, in the Mutant X universe they are addressed as "NEW Mutants". Maybe in that universe there are "natural" mutants somewhere anyway?
