I'm trying to upgrade my entertainment system for my room. Currently using 2.0 Stereo, 19" 720p LCD TV, and Upconverting DVDs on my Xbox 360.
So, now I'm going to get a BD player, 5.1 system (maybe both as all in one, budget is key), and a 1080p TV. I'm looking into this TV from BestBuy: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1218056720994 I'm trying to sell my TV first of course (to either my dad or my friend). I'm trying to keep it cheap and simple. The reviews are really good, I saw the TV in person and the quality looks good, didn't mess around with it at all since I was in a hurry. I don't need a large TV, my 19" is great, I sit about 2-4ft from my TV. Does this TV sound like a good fit? Is it descent? |

I am no HDTV expert, but you probably couldn't tell the difference between that Insignia 22" 1080p tv & another 720p 22" tv. You would be better off staying at 720p & upping the screen size. Best Buy has an Insignia 26" 720p tv for $330 ($30 more than the tv you are looking at).

Well, I was just perusing some different threads and alot of people had a split argument on this. Some had said that too small and you will not see a difference between 720p and 1080p. However, some people argued that its based on sitting distance. I'm not sure. I'll be honest it appeared to be the same as the other TVs but I didn't mess around with it at all. Also, I don't know what their source signal was. It may have been only 720p for that section of TVs.'
I really want to eventually upgrade to 1080p within the next few months. The next size I saw was 37". Thats too big and expensive for me. I'd prefer to be going no larger than 26" but will expand as high as 32". |

If you go up to a 32" TV are you still going to be sitting 2-4 feet from the screen?
I can only speak from personal experience but sitting 2 feet from a 32" inch screen would give me a splitting headache and eyestrain from constantly having to move my eyes to take in the whole screen. In your situation I would either stick with a 22" 720P set and save some cash, or at a push go to the 26" jlw suggested (or similar depending on what brand you would prefer). I think 1080P would probably be a waste of cash for you, save the cash and buy some BDs with it. |
