Picture Quality is very important. Gonna connect it with my PS3 so it will be used much for gaming, but also Blu-rays, of course! Last edited by snackpack; 09-19-2009 at 11:03 AM. |

LG's appliances were GoldStar, and well LG's appliances are very good. Their electronics were Zenith.
As far as PQ is that is your call, You will be the one watching it. I personally don't want to watch Lime Green grass, fire engine red reds and Ghostly white looking people like the Samsung displays. |

I have an LG and I could not be happier. I have had a Sony in the past and I have a family member who owns a Samsung. They are all great looking TVs. My LG looked better, clearer, and more detailed than the Sony and Samsung I compared it to in the store. Then I calibrated it at home the way I wanted it and I am even more pleased. I don't think you will go wrong with either TV you are looking at.
People on this board are so ridiculous. I am so tired of Sony owners saying everything else sucks, while Samsung owners think everything else is horrible. Panasonic owners think Sony, Samsung, and LG suck. Meanwhile, everyone dumps on Vizio, but if you do the research the only people not happy with Vizio are people who don't (and never have) own one. Give me a break. Rant Over. ![]() |

Hey,
I have a LG 47inch LCD and I like it better than my Samsung. I really feel it is a matter of opinion. Sony, Samsung, LG, and so on all have different types of pictures. I would try to see them all side by side and make a decision from there. If you have the cash I would get a LED TV. Those are pretty sweet. AGAIN it's all a preference. Be careful of paying for a name, look into the specs, price, warranty, etc and compare from there. Best of luck to you in your shopping. Aloha, T |

Its unfortunate that so many people in this forum just aren't objective. I've owned several LCD's and the one that I just sold was an LG. It was a terrific set, and I had it for nearly two years without any problems. Samsung makes great LCD's too. The thing is you have to compare sets on a model by model basis. You can't just paint a broad stroke by saying one company is better than the other. At different price points one company's product will be better than the competition's offering and the roles can reverse at another price point.
You want to know who put out the best LED LCD this year? It was LG and not Samsung. That doesn't mean that Samsung's upcoming 8500 series won't top the LG, but my point is that too much fanyboyism takes place in this forum. To make an objective decision you should compare the two sets you are considering side by side and determine for yourself which one you like better. When I bought the LG I had I compared it to a couple of different Samsung, Sony, and Sharp models. I almost went with the Sammy since the blacks were a little better, BUT I realized how much the blacks were crushing the detail while the LG didn't and that swayed me towards the LG. Another thing that the Samsung had a problem with was motion blurring and the LG didn't. Like I said, things will differ between models so at a different price point I may have like a higher end Samsung over the higher end LG that would have been its competition. Who knows? You need to compare for yourself, but don't trust blanket statements that say one company is better than the other especially when these two Korean companies are very competitive rivals who go back and forth one upping each other on a regular basis. |

I think LG, I am not a fan of the Samsung sets, over saturated with color and stuff. LG makes some really nice sets, and although not as bright as the Samsungs, they are actually more accurate right out of the box and need less tweaking. The LG's also give you more options for you if you do want to tweak it.

It's all about where the setting are in the picture menu, I have a Samsung LCD and did notice the blacks were crushing the detail in "Natural Mode", so made a few adjustments. Come-on people don't be ridiculous, did you even bother to check the motion processing adjustments in the Advanced Picture Options? How can you make an intelligent decision to buy either the LG or the Samsung when you don't even have basic knowledge of why a display might be crushing the detail do to the blacks being out of adjustment? I'm dying to know this, really!

![]() I've seen many Samsung sets myself beside various brands and the differences are easy to spot no matter how many adjustments you make. This goes for both Samsung's LCD's and plasmas. Black crush in shadows was apparent two years ago, so I went with the LG which had better detail. When I purchased my Panasonic a year and a half ago I compared it to a competing model from Samsung, and again it was apparent that shadow detail was considerably better on the Panny. |
