Is it true that Dolph and Van Damme only have small parts in this?

Dolph is given a glorified cameo. He filmed his scenes in 5 days. Still, there will be a HUGE and IMPRESSIVE fight between him and J-C at the very end.

J-C will get 45 minutes. The beginning, 5 minutes here, 5 minutes there, and the final 30 minutes or more. He *IS* the lead character and the main point of the plot, anyway.

Holy crap, it looks cheesey as hell, but I'm SOOOOOOOOOOO looking forward to this. I loved Unisol : The Return and this looks like it'll be a lot of fun. And a good fight between Dolph and JCVD will be awesome (almost as awesome as Dolph and Jet Li in "The Expendables")

Many from the Fantastic Fest screening (Austin, TX) reported that the fight between J-C and Dolph is impressive, gory and gritty as hell.

Default f.a.q.

Q- What's the definitive title?
A- 'Universal Soldier: Regeneration'.

Q- Produced by...?
A- Craig Baumgarten (SAME producer of US1 and US2) and Moshe Diamant.

Q- What's the definitive release date?
A- 2nd February, 2010. On DVD and Blu-Ray format.

Q- What's the official rating?
A- "R". Lots of blood and violence.

Q- Will the movie get a theatrical release?
A- Apparently not, even if it hasn't been stated by Sony yet.

Q- Distribuited by... ?
A- Sony Entertainment/Tri-Star Pictures.

Q- Who is the director?
A- John Hyams, son of Peter Hyams ("Timecop"). Anyway, Peter is doing the cinematography for US3. And it shows!

Q- Is there an official trailer?
A- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPasvs3spuE

Q- Is Jean-Claude Van Damme the lead character?
A- Yes, he is the main character and the driving force of the movie (PLOTWISE), despite he's given a relatively-limited screentime of 45 minutes. The final 30 minutes will depict him busy in various fights with the NGU (Arlovski; the lead villain) and the Andrew Scott clone (Lundgren).

Q- Is Lundgren just a guest?
A- A GLORIFIED cameo. He shot his scenes in only 5 days, but they are very important sequences in the plot, included an impressive long fight with Luc Deveraux/Van Damme towards the end.

Q- But was Lundgren's character, Andrew Scott, killed and blown in pieces at the very end of US1?
A- Yes, but later the scientists cloned him. The Scott version in US3 is a clone, indeed.

Q- Is this movie ignoring the TV sequels produced in 1998?
A- Yes, of course. Like 'The Return', it ignores 'Universal Soldier II: Brothers in Arms' and 'Universal Soldier III: Unfinished Business'. After all, they are spin-off movies produced for TV.

Q- Is this movie ignoring 'Universal Soldier: The Return' (1999)?
A- No. 'Regeneration' is neither denying it, nor ignoring it. Confirmed by the director, John Hyams. This is the *CANONICAL* third part, naturally following 'The Return'.

Q- But why is Luc Deveraux an UniSol again in this movie?
A- Likely, in US2 he was a hybrid between human and UniSol. Dr. Dylan Cotner tempered with his hyper-accelleration, he kinda "lowered" it.
His "condition" worsened in-between US2 and US3, and he's now a full UniSol going at full hyper-accellerated mood.

Q- How many years have passed by between 'The Return' and 'Regeneration'?
A- Despite being a 1992 release, US1 is set in 1994. Despite being a 1999 release, 'The Return' is set in 2009 (15 years after). It looks like 'Regeneration' is set MANY years after 'The Return', maybe 9 or 10.

Q- In 'The Return', Luc has a daughter (Hillary). What happened to her?
A- She's now a woman, and located elsewhere. Plain and simple.

Q- But are UniSols "dead" people? Was he (Luc) dead in the first movie?
A- No. They are alive. He was alive. He's always been alive, except in the timespan between his death in Vietnam (1969) and the day he was revived and turned into UniSol, some time before 1994.

Q- What? They are zombies!
A- No. Scroll down.

*HOW TO MAKE AN UNISOL*:

1- They used corpses kept/stored in suspended decomposition (via cryogenesis).

2- They "accellerated" the cellular structure of the corpses at a genetic level, and that revived the subjects. Decomposition turned into ultra-fast cellular regeneration.

3- The regenerated soldiers displayed superhuman feats: strength, stamina.

4- They normally age, but can't die if their bodies or even vital organs are damaged. They are immune to artificial death.

5- They run at extreme temperatures and need refrigeration to not collapse and die again. Brains must be periodically sedated/controlled too.

Thus, they are not zombies.

Q- Who or what is Andrei Arlovski in this movie?
A- He's a 'NGU'. Next Generation UniSol. Much likely, a leftover from the 'UniSol 2500' project seen in US2 (in the US3 movie, the project is addressed as "Black Tower") now further enhanced and equipped with retractile blades.

Q- Is he (NGU) more powerful than Luc Deveraux (Van Damme)?
A- Luc is first generation UniSol ("White Tower"), twice stronger than a human. NGU - like all the UniSols 2500 seen in the second movie - is 2,5 stronger than humans.

Q- Does an UniSol necessarely need "Muscle Enhancers" to be strong?
A- No. That provides them with a "boost" and addictional strength, but they are superstrong by genetic default.

This movie is like 'Psycho Circus' minus ghost musicians, featuring all 4 originals. HA!
