Default Thinking of getting a new HDTV, need some advice

I have decided to purchase a new TV after the 22 inch one I had in my room broke. It was aa philips HDTV with up to 1080i output. I of course plan on getting a blu ray player too. I have heard the best way to watch blu ray is on 1080p. I viewing distance is only a few feet, 3 at the most. I just wondered if it's worth spending extra to get a 1080p TV or just stick with a 720p TV. The 1080p I was looking at was the Sony - BRAVIA / 32" Class / 1080p / 60Hz / LCD HDTV for $599.99, but if I wouldn't see much of a difference with my blu rays on a 720p, I will just get one of those for much cheaper. Any advice on what I should do would be great. Also any suggestions on a TV for a good price would help.

Default New TV

I'll have to admit, I agree with Crakinhedz's recommendation. Panasonic plasmas ARE the best on the market right now. But, yes, 3' IS kind of close for a 42" HDTV. Could you move your seating postion a couple of feet further back ? If not, you'll probably have to settle for the Sony LCD since there are no plasmas available under 40" in size. And, YES, bigger IS better !! I'm getting a new 54" Panny plasma for myself next year. HDTVs just seem to shrink over time........
