Woohoo finally HD-DUD gets the shaft in something, way to go Dreamworks. You might end up being the anti WB.

I don't have the time... are the fans on AVS saying DD+ is good enough and that Paramount is the devil?

They are saying they would rather have the extras.

Well, at 93 minutes how could anyone expect lossless to fit?

This is probably a bandwidth issue. The picture would have been degraded too much for lossless to be included on HD DVD.

Enter A-man pointing finger at Paramount's move to AVC.

93 minute film, and the extras are causing lossless to be left off?

It's the bandwidth, not the capacity that is the problem.

And the magical week for BD just rolls on and on.

Top Gun managed to have TrueHD on the HD DVD.

The extras being in HD is the problem.

Most HD DVDs have the extras in SD.

Ding Ding Ding. We have a winner! Let's see HD-DVD spin their way out of this one.

I was starting to think this the other day when Paramount started postponing titles idefinitely that maybe they are holding them back and will sometime soon go Blu-Ray Exclusive. One can only hope. Maybe they are just holding them back so they can do the same as what they've done here and with Face/Off go back and add some better stuff to the Blu-Ray version because it has more room.

Paramount is just listening to BD fans what they want and follow them respectively.

Give us PCM soundtrack and Gorgeous PQ ,Lately are doing marvelous job in optimizing PQ and now Paramount is shifting up the BD with PCM soundtrack.

93 min = 5580 seconds

2.4Mbps ABR for TrueHD 48/16: 13,392Mb = 1.674GB
1.5Mbps CBR for DD+: 8370Mb = 1.046GB

So, they were so tight they needed to save ~0.6GB of storage?

I think it is more likely they felt they needed that 0.9Mbps extra for the AVC peaks.

Gary

P.S. Bandwidth is far more serious a limitation than capacity. They can always add a disc for the extras if capacity is an issue.
