My receiver is humming!

My Sony STR-DN1000 receiver arrived today and the only problem I'm having with it is that when it's turned on, there is a humming noise coming from the receiver. I can hear it from 5ft away as my viewing distance is 5 ft from the receiver. I plugged in the receiver in a different power outlet in my bedroom with nothing else connected to it and it still hums. I tried 2 different surge protectors, they aren't high end surge protectors and they are around 4 and 6 years old and I still get the humming. I did get humming from a few other receiver I tried out but a few of them I couldn't hear the hum. When I moved the receiver to the kitchen, the hum was much quieter. Does this sound like a ground loop issue I'm having. I'm considering buying a good quality surge protector with a line conditioner if that will fix the hum from the receiver.
