I want 1 new racing game. It's going to be Split Second or Blur. Which one and why? I think the online would be a blast for both. But I need your opinions please. Thanks.

I'm torn between those exact two games.
Reviews seem to give a slightly higher score to Blur. However, I've played the Split/Second demo and really enjoyed the way you use the terrain to change the parcours or to smash opponents. Racing with others on a runway while a huge plane is crashing down, coming from the opposite direction = awesome! ![]() So I'm inclinded to go with Split/Second Last edited by Kyo28; 06-02-2010 at 08:13 AM. |

Ok
I have never played split second. I have however played blur. I love every minute of it. If you enjoyed mario cart?? Then you will enjoy blur. Heres a way i hope i can help you decide. If your looking for a pure racing game, where skill counts, blur is not for you. It sounds funny but any one who has played mario cart knows. If you are the best driver in the game you will win more than lose. However the power ups kinda even the playing field. It is possible to not be the best racer but be good with powerups and be successful. I personally have gone from first to last in the span of 30 seconds. There are multiple game modes. 10 players 20 players A destruction arena where destroying other cars is the key. Also a hardcore mode with no power ups only driving. It also has a call of duty like upgrade system. First of they have a "legendary" (prestige) system. You accumulate fans and level up. Once you get to 50 you have the option to lose all the stuff you have unlocked and go back to the start. You do however unlock a "legendary" car to use through your next play through. Also there are individual car challenges. Like unlocking gloss, metallic and pearl paint jobs. Each car has bonus categories. The more races you use the car for you can unlock a fan bonus for that car, an extra health bar and an acceleration bonus. There are class A, B, C and D levels. At the end of each race there are 2 races to chose from with a random level. Then the players in the room vote on which map they want. Each car handles differently as well. If you have a drifty car... the rear end will kick out. A gripy car and you guessed it corners well. So i would highly recommend blur to anyone who likes chaos along with driving. |

Blur is sort of like Mario Kart with realistic looking cars. I think it's a slightly better game in terms of replayability than Split/Second, which has a better immediate impact, but loses some of its cool factor after you've learned the tracks.
That said, I can not in any good personal conscience recommend Blur because it's published by Activision, who I am actively boycotting. But Blur really is the better game of the two. |
