totally unrelated but when cruising FB or Insta and come across a photo with a DVD shelf in the BG, does anyone else scan through to see what they own?

Wouldn't this be only $900,000 or so U.S. dollars?

Someone here needs to pony up.

I saw it last month when someone posted the ebay listing in another thread (https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...ostcount=16301).

He basically wants $57 for each title which is ridiculous.

10% for Ebay, 3% for paypal, so $130 000.

On the bright side, for his 17K+ collection of likely mostly VHSs and DVDs, he's willing to personally deliver them for that price

[sarcasm] $0.00. Physical media is dead. [/sarcasm]

But seriously, it looks like a good portion of that collection are DVDs and VHSs. Like, why include this stuff in the sale? You're lucky to get .50 a piece for most of the forms of media at garage sales.

As for the Criterion collection, if he had a complete DVD and blu-ray set of those, he would get a good price for it. Yet, to collect those in Canada, especially with $$ the way it is, those weren't cheap to begin with. The OOP titles would push it over the top.

But things like a complete Marvel, Disney and Pixar collections? Who doesn't have this? Especially those with kids.

Shame, because underneath a lot of meh, there probably are small collections of gems worth something. Selling it all in one go, puts your collection under scrutiny of buyers and invites a whole lot of garbage offers.

I agree, he'll get $0.
It looks to me that he wants to get rid of probably 90% garbage or non valuables and get a million for it which will never happen.
I'll be surprised if the most non-low-balling person would offer $20000.
And that would be to only get watever is worth something and junk the rest (like 2400 out of the 2465 VHSs or 8000 out of the 8826 DVDs, etc...)
And in which case, he will not sale.

You want your collection to look aesthetically pleasing. Those shelves look like cork wall paneling. Yuuuuck.

Sounds like the inflated number has more to do with his emotional/time investment in obtaining all of those over the years. In reality, he probably doesn't really want to part with them but would if someone bit on his dream payout. Doubtful he'll reach an agreement. Another likely scenario is his wife may be giving him an ultimatum and this is his excuse to say, "well, I tried."

Something tells me that this guy was better off collecting Star Wars figures instead...

Come on 23 copies of Jurassic Park on every format from VHS to Blu-ray,... WORTH LESS!

We normally see stupid things like this on social media pertaining to non-Canadians, so this is a rarity for us

I do wonder if he's insured his collection... and I wonder who is insuring it...

His posting on ebay is quite interesting to read.

It's worth noting there is no copies of Jurassic Park 2.
