Default Sony BDPN460, worth buying?????

Anybody have any input on this machine? Best Buy has it for $199. I have to replace a Panny BD35 that took a s**t on me. Don't think that it would be cost prohibitive to get it serviced. This Sony, except for no WIFI, has gotten excellent reviews. I think I am going to pick this up. Any input before I get it?

Most would say it's a Sony, you can't go wrong. As long as you don't need wifi it's gravy. Buy it!

I bought this unit and it works well. The Netflix streaming quality is comparable to the Roku and PS3. The remote is cheaply made, like most BD remotes. It has a very PS3-like interface. So far the only disc I have trouble with is "Ice Age 3", where I have to turn off BD-live to get the disk to work. I use a HomeLine AV networking adapter for my internet access and it works great.

I would recommend this deck, although I would buy a Universal remote if you don't already have one.

I have it as well and so far the BDP N460 does everything very well. I would go as far to say it matches the PS3 except it dont play games. The only drawback? The remote doesnt have the eject button which I dont have a clue as to why Sony left that off the remote. But it is a must buy.

I just bought one - I love it! Best Buy has them on sale for $199 right now. If there is Kroger Grocery store near you, you can buy Best Buy gift cards for $90 that are worth $100 - buy 2 of them, get the player for $179!

Just bought one from Best Buy myself and love it compared to my old Panasonic BD35. $199 is a great price.

Default S360 and 50 bucks or the new N460?

I have the S360 and it has been great for the month and a half that I have had it.
Now I see my local Costco has the N460 for 179.99 (same price I paid for mine)
They tell me I can return it and get the newer one since it has been under 90 days.
Actually they also have the S360 (they call it BX2 and it has the hdmi cable)
for 129.99 now. Since they give cash back I can then go buy the same one for 50 off. An employee told me I could do that!

I looked on the Sony site and can see no diff between the two other than the netflix and you tube and other internet stuff i will most likely never use.
Oh and a usb on the front panel wich is nice.

So do i get 50 bucks or get the N460?
I hope his is not too much of a noob question.
Thanks in advance
Doug

I picked up 2 of the N460's on Friday. I got one them hooked up this weekend to my bedroom tv. Its a Samsung 46" LED. The 460 worked perfect and very user friendly. The sound and picture quality is awesome. Sometime this week I will be hooking up the second one I got in the living room and let you know how that goes. Love it so far. My house is wired so I dont have to use WIFI, I just plug the patch cable from the wall into the back on the 460. Perfect and full speed....

So far it has been great. I have only used the one in my bedroom so far. I bought my patch cable today so it will connect to the wall. My house has RJ-45 plates every where Alot faster connection instead of wireless. I do use wireless on somethings. But the tv and the sony are hard wired in. I will be hooking up the second blu-ray this week sometime in the livingroom and I will let you know how it goes. Love it so far and very easy to use...

Default Why Can't Sony make BDPN460 with Wireless?

I ran across this unit from "Slacker" (best audio streaming service IMHO)--the only Blu-ray player that streams it. It has everything I want (Netflix streaming is getting better and better), but I'm concerned about lack of wireless (for the sake of flexibility).

The wireless solution Sony recommends gets mixed reviews (an external Logitech unit). Does anyone have experience adding wireless to the unit?...or have any secret info on when Sony may upgrade the player?

Thanks in advance,

Jon

I have two N460s, one in the living room and one in the finished basement. Both are hooked up to Belkin Gigabit Powerline adapters and I haven't had an issue yet. Last weekend we viewed "Funny People" in HD via Amazon On Demand without so much as a hiccup...tastes great, less filling!

I have had the N460 for about 2 months. I am thrilled with it. I am running a Lynksys wireless bridge to connect the Sony Blu-Ray to my wireless network. I use the bridge to access instant Netflix movies and it works well. It comes in very handy.

As far as Blue-Ray movies the picture quality is awesome.

As far as remote control concerns I am using a Harmony One remote so I can't comment on the remote.

The OP's best bet would be to wait for next month when the DDP-S370, S470 and the S570 are released.

That won't be necessary as the S370 and S470 are already in stock at Sony Style. I received my S370 last Tuesday and it is Awesome! The best blu-ray player I have owned so far....

I picked one up yesterday to replace my BDP-BX1 and have to say that yes it is better. The only dissapointment is that it streams Slacker and not Pandora like the S570 does. I hope Sony adds it later on but I'm not going to hold my breath.
