Default Vikings in development

Tudors/Camelot Creator Tackles Vikings

Quote:
The producers of The Tudors and Camelot are going back into the past again, and this time they're bringing us the story of Vikings. That's the working title for a new TV project from Michael Hirst and Morgan O'Sullivan, reports Deadline.

MGM is producing Vikings, which is not yet based at a specific network. Deadline says a pay cable channel is the most likely home for it, which shouldn't be a surprise if you've seen the previous series from Hirst (who created The Tudors and is the co-creator of Camelot).

Deadline describes the series as chronicling, "the Vikings' exploits as warriors, explorers, builders, merchants, pirates and mercenaries through what is known as the Viking Age of Scandinavian, British and Irish history from the late-8th to the mid-11th century." The main character will be Ragnar Lodbrok, "one of the most popular Viking heroes, a great commander who briefly ruled Denmark and Sweden and was linked to two shieldmaidens and a queen."
Sounds really cool and already has a good start with the Tudors and Camelot producers.

Agreed! I just hope it comes on a channel I already get. If not I'll just have to get it on Netflix the following year or whenever it gets released. Even buying it would be cheaper than upping my cable/sat bill.

Next program package is $10 more per month = $120 per year.
1 Season on Blu-ray averages what.. $40 - $50 new?

Just isn't financially feasible to up my package for a single show. haha Would love to check this show out tho so I'll have to keep my eyes open for more news on Vikings.

I could see Starz getting this show as they have Spartacus and Camelot which are period dramas. I don't really see this show fitting with Showtime or being pared up with Borgias though. HBO could air it with Game of Thrones though as they aren't really similar but would go well together I think.
