Default Trade your wallet for Spider-Man 3?

Is this true?

"Retail price for 'Spider-Man 3' on Blu-ray is $49.95."

http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/list

I don't care how new a technology is, $50 for a movie is absurd. Hopefully this is a typo.

Meh. Sony is charging the same price for Close Encounters.

Get used to it. This is what they'll be charging for "superdeluxe" versions.

That's just the MSRP, no retailer will charge that much.

I doubt it will sell for that. Amazon.com and fry's will sell it much cheaper. Best buy will surely sell it for that though.

EVERY blu-ray movie I see in stores is between 20-30 bucks. Yes I happened to be on vacation the day "The Untouchables" hit Blu-ray so I swung by a mall to see it. Best Buy didn't have a good stock (It was Cape Cod Mall) but a video game/movie store in the mall, FYE, did. For 20 bucks! Brand new! They were already out of The Patriot but I went to Sucoast when I got home to MN (the 2 places are owned by the same company) and got that for 25. The rest I get for 30. Well sometimes I see prices for 35 and rarely 40, but that's the highest it gets. And the manager of the Suncoast told me that nobody buys the ones that are 35-40 and that drives the price down to 30 and then they get them. I never see anything higher than 30 at Best Buy is what I should say. Spider-Man 3 will be 30 bucks and the trilogy 90 which is exactly what you'd expect. Just get the box so you have a nice storage thingy. My girlfriend was watching Mission Impossible II on TV about 3 months after I bought the Blu-ray and said this looks good. I told her to stop watching, I'd go rent it. As I drove to the store I thought that the trilogy was on Blu-ray. I drove to BB and looked at it. The main sticker said 100 bucks but there was a yellow sticker on it that read 72. For 3 BD discs I said "That's a steal! That's 2 at normal price and the 3rd for only 10!" So the trilogy is a fine deal

Wow thats a lot to read...but yes prices are usually around there at B&M stores, online you can probably find it cheaper.

If it retails at that much though you won't be getting this one for $20
You will probably be charged between $30-$35 or so by retailers like Amazon, etc.

If Sony really wanted to 'win' the format war, this isn't the way to woo new customers. Of course, maybe they think they've alreay won, and this is how they 'reward' the loyal customers such as us for making Blu-Ray the winner...

Thanks Sony.

I have no problem with waiting for the price to come down...

even if it's over a year....

there is no excuse for this at all...

I don't care if it even takes advantage of BD-J features and all the extra's are in HD...

I am not spending 50 bucks on one movie...

the most I've spent is 35 and that was Gladiator extended special edition...

and even then I was ripped off...but I can only blame myself for paying that much...

Good things cost money.

Look at the trilogy box set though. $100 SRP for the three. Amazon will sell it for $70.

That's $23.33 a disc.

Yeah = you could have waited 5 years and bought it for $5 when 300 came out...

exactly....there's no reason to buy spider-man 3 when the trilogy isn't that much more...

I'll likely get the trilogy

No trilogy or singles for me. Not a fan of spidey. However, 50 bux for a movie is really absurd.
