Elegy Blu-ray available on Netflix only?

I was updating my queue two days ago I saw that Elegy was available blu-ray. To my knowledge this movie has been released only on dvd in the US.

In-fact I had to import a copy of it from the UK just to view in HD. Given the disappointing quality of that release (it was 1080i with 4% PAL speed up). I was really happy to see it on netflix, anyways I just got an email saying that they sent it and that it should arrive tomorrow.

I looked for evidence of a US blu-ray release and couldn't find any.

Is this a netflix exclusive or a recalled version? I remember the day the dvd was announced I was very disappointed because the was no blu-ray with it. So I don't think they ever intended to release this movie on blu-ray.

Great movie.
I believe Netflix has an exclusive of it only. Not sure about a recall though.

Yeah, I loved the movie when I saw it in theaters.

I was just speculating about it being recalled that maybe it was supposed to be released and then it was cancelled but some copies made it to netflix somehow.

I am happy that netflix has it, its just odd that they haven't publicized it as an exclusive.

It is indeed a Netflix exclusive and the disc itself shows a "Red Envelope Entertainment (A Netflix Company)" video logo on startup.

The Brothers Bloom is also now available to rent on Blu-ray from Netflix, although it's not clear to me whether it's actually an exclusive like Elegy or just showed up there early.

Here are some others available to rent which I don't think have seen retail release yet:

12, Bounty, Claim, Ghost Cat, Ghosts of Goldfield, The Grand, Nightstalker, Phoebe in Wonderland, Redemption

I recently rented the Phoebe in Wonderland blu-ray from Netflix. Oddly enough, it's not in the same aspect ratio as the DVD apparently is.

(The DVD is supposedly 2.35:1, but the blu-ray is about 1.85:1 as it fills up my HDTV screen).

Very cool that this is available through Netflix I have never even heard of Netflix having blu rays that aren't available commercially.

Are there any additions to this list over the past 2 years?

Elegy is a very good movie, I'm surprised it never got a wide American release.

Sorry to bump an old thread but I found one of the Netflix blus out in the wild today at my local Dollar General. It's one of the Treasure Hunt releases in a paper sleeve for $1.
