Nope. Cases for all discs, or nothing, for me.

You?

Honestly though, I don't. If it ever comes time to sell, I look at it using my personal buying habits as my perspective. I'd never buy a disc without case/artwork (and slipcover...if available) just like I'd never buy an engine without everything else that makes up a car.

I have a couple of friends who do. I cringe every time they pull out their binder of discs.

I've never liked the idea of storing my DVDs or blu-rays in binders! You pay for the packaging as well, so why not leave the disc(s) in their original cases, and get use out of them. What else can you do with the cases? Besides, the cases offers better support and protection for the discs from being damaged. Storing blu-rays in binders, makes it more convenient for a thief to steal your entire collection. All they have to do is, pick up the binder(s), and walk out with them. There goes all of your blu-rays, and all you'll left are the cases. So what good are the cases, without their discs!

I use to keep all of my DVD's in them. DVD-R's that had movies recorded from channels like HBO and store bought DVDs. Loved the idea until I realized it scratched the shit of out of a bunch of my DVD's.

No.

It would take up a lot less space that's true but its hard to organize and find stuff and easy for stuff to get damaged.

If I had to guess, it's probably a space issue (I know, I'm brilliant ). If you don't have space, you make space!

All my DVD's are in those Case Logic binders. Never have any problems playing any of them or noticed any new scratches from it. I did it originally to save shelf space and put all the cases into boxes in storage. What would otherwise cover an entire wall now fits on a single shelf. I may eventually do the same with my Blu-Ray TV shows when I have more than the few I have now, but I'll keep my movies in cases this time.

I do...sometimes. Basically, when I'm away at college I have all my movies in binders, DVD and Blu-ray. That way, as long as I keep them safe I can have my entire collection with me to watch as I please, without having to bring all the cases. But when I'm at home for the summer and winter, into the cases they go. Firstly, because I'm the type to put them in alphabetical order, which means that when they're in the binder and I get new ones I have to move the ones in front of that spot back, and when I'm at home its just much easier to move the boxes around. Plus, it takes less time to find the box then to go through the binders.

I am seriously considering switching to binders. First off with over 1000 blus and 1000 DVDs they take up to much room. The damage thing for blus is irrelivent bc they are scratch resistant. My main reson is as follows: I was recently at a dinner party where a guest was explaining that his house was burglarized. The alarm system was cut and they unloaded over 1000 blus from his home selves. When it came to claiming them on his insurance for replacements he got screwed. In his policy (and I checked this is common) there is fine print that states only x amont of dollars can go towards replacing stolen media. This poor guy only got $2,000 to go towards like 1200 stolen movies.
He said he now keeps them in professional grade security cases, these hold 600 disks and are high quality for old professional DJs before digital media. They are more like luggage and he keeps them in a large gun safe. The safes are apparently hard to steal and create more insurance coverage if they are stolen.
I know all this seems over board ( like $1000 just to protect your collection) but with 1000 blus at $10 each (assuming they were that cheap) is like $10,000 worth of stuff. Like they say... Your suposed to privately insure anything valued at over $1000, why not your collection.

Half of the fun of collecting blu's comes from the cases and artwork
