D'oh! Still not the Albert Finney yet (of which an HD print is floating around NFS)--
Suchet IS Poirot, but it's too hard to watch just any old Orient Express without the 70's all-star cast.

i was watching tv recently not findind anything that i like and suddenly i saw that a poirot movie was about to begin on the pbs channel (mrs. mcginty is dead) so with nothing else to do i decided to watch this movie...and i fell in love with poirot especially with david suchet as the lead, he's wonderful as poirot.

ever since then i have watch (murder on the orient -express) and the documentary (suchet on the orient -express) (third girl) (appointment with death) and (cat among the pigeons) i also bought the first seasons of poirot classic and movie collection and a couple of agatha christy's books, so as you can see im a new fan of poirot, i have already place the blu-ray of (murder on...) on my wishlist and i will buy it on day one when it will come out.

I grew up watching Poirot on PBS with my mom. Too bad the newer ones cut out Captain Hastings. Best sidekick ever.

As for the listing of this Blu-ray on the site, poorly done. Here's some help. This movie isn't from 1974, it's from 2010.

The audio is DTS-HD 5.1, It's a 1080p/MPEG-4 AVC encode, and the film is 93 minutes long, not 124.

Can't wait to see this movie. I've been waiting over 15 years for Suchet to film Orient Express!

Wow you're right not sure how they could have gotten a lot of the information wrong but I entered the correct time and date. Only 1 more week till release can't wait.

If looking to extend your habit, how about Geraldine McEwan's Miss Marple?
(As opposed to Joan Hickson's, or even, sadly, Angela Lansbury's?...And Margaret Rutherford never happened, beyond a cute theme song.)

This still hasn't been broadcast here in the U.K, funny considering it is a British production and cast, I guess it is being saved for Christmas, I certainly hope so if it's out on Blu in the states

A new Poirot is scheduled to be Broadcast here next week.

Yes that is also the one With Albert Finney.

It is available in Europe. UK in a "b" locked version. At least one of the
version in Italy is listed as region free.

This site's review mentions puzzlement over the video-like appearance of what is thought to be 35mm. Well I think it was indeed shot on video, not 35mm. Poirot used to be shot on 16mm (I worked on a few episodes of it back in 2003), but I don't think they ever shot on 35mm to my knowledge - although they certainly should do, seeing as it's one of ITV's biggest shows.

Cool Release dates

Does anyone know what the release date of this dvd is for Australia? I'm dying to see it. I think I read on another blog that it was January 8, 2011 but that may have been for England.

It has a hard act to follow with the original one. Although I prefer David Suchet (to Albert Finney) as Poirot, you have relative unknowns (compared to say, John Gieldgud, Lauren Bacall, etc) in the other roles. But the graphics and cinematics should be superior - perhaps offsetting the absence of major stars. If anyone has seen it, I would love to know what you think!

It's quite good. Very dark and disturbing for a Poirot. It has a claustrophobic feel, as if you're on the Orient Express with the passengers. David Suchet is brilliant, as always.

Smile An excellent gift.

I'll get this one for my mom for her birthday. She loves Poirot and Ms. Marple and Midsummer Murders. Stuff like that. I'm only getting it though because she doesn't have this one. She says she doesn't notice a difference between blu ray and DVD. Clearly I am adopted.

I almost did too until I saw the Poirot part, plus the new one just came out last Friday.
