I think SCEE Benelux leaked something early not so long ago before so there's definitely some precedent for this.

This should make level design easier!

I hope MM doesn't half-ass this. They did say that there was no possibility of an LBP2 a while back. I'll buy it regardless, I want new dev levels but I also hope that they wow us with the Move + gameplay, not just level creation.

I don't think they could ever make big changes without leaving the first game behind. Even with a significantly rebuilt engine, I still think they could get original LBP levels mostly compatible but it's a question of whether it's worth their time when the new LBP2 levels may be so much awesomer.

This really pisses me off. I hope it's not a realLBP2 as the first game is absolutely perfect. DLC is just fine; the community can always grow. There should be a seperate game for the Playstation Move (LBP Move lol) and not a LBP2.

LBP is far from perfect but if you can't already see that maybe Mm's next game will show you just how much can be improved.

Sure i shall see, but i just see LBP as a game that did not need a sequel.

First of all, to be honest, the first game is really NOT perfect.

However, MM themselves said they wouldn't do a "LittleBigPlanet 2"
as it's "the most counter-productive thing you could do".
And they would continue on the original game with updates, etc.

I really hope they stick to that, cause indeed you'd have to throw away pretty much everything,
when moving to the next more popular version of the game.
Unless it's just some kinda update you have to buy on-disc, they perhaps could do this major update.

Don't forget Sony just bought Media Molecule, and they have said they would love a sequel.

Of course they'd love a sequel... ca-ching!
They can't get enough from milking users through the PS-Store either...

So they can't win? Release DLC and they're milking, release a new BD game and they're cashing in.

Assuming LBP2 on BD is real, give Mm a chance to explain before assuming they've given up keeping the community/levels together.

They can fix and upgrade LittleBigPlanet with patches but making big changes is difficult because of all the side-effects especially in a physics heavy, so many different things dependant on each other game. Breaking compatibility with the levels already created makes people very, VERY ANGRY as I'm sure you know.

It may actually be quicker to build a new game, get everything they want NEW in and then tackle a compatibility mode for LBP1 levels.

I have never understood all the complaining about DLC. Nobody is forced to buy it. You like a game, you want more? Good for you, there's some DLC. A game is meh? Beat it and move on.

Well, the latter thing is pretty much what I meant, create one big new thing and incorporate the original game.

But what I meant was, it's very clear that of course they want a sequel to sell.
Just like they can't get enough from making people dip a lot of DLC.
But I hope you're right that they might keep the next game compatible with the earlier stuff.

It sounded like you had a problem with that.

I meant as in of course "ditching the first game and creating a TYPICAL sequel to pump out more money".
I don't mind the creators making money on a good game.
But it's just the principle of having a sequel, that is of course something they typically want.
Unlike first MM wanting to keep the first game intact and work from there.
It's like someone (Sony) came up like "What, are you crazy? Thát's not the way to make money!".

But yeah, like I said, I just hope they keep the community and everything intact.
Not having to have everybody pack up and move to the second game.
And like MM pointed out, the community would be split in two,
with people that are still on the first game and people that have the second
and also new players only on the second.

How would it be easier than using the controller?

Maybe it would be quicker in work, like using a mouse.
But I do not dare to say it would be as precise as a mouse or even a stick.

Apparently you can also use the PS Eye in LBP, not sure how but yeah...

The controller already works like a mouse (moving the cursor, precision, etc.). Using the wand for creating seems bulky - but I doubt there will be anything you can do "better or easier" with the wand in create mode vs. the controller.

I personally wasn't too excited about the Move gameplay video shown - seemed like very basic gameplay - but I could see how this would allow younger/older people to play. (My wife can't use a controller to save her life). (I only hope they release LBP2 without the crazy glitches LBP1 released with).

I'm still enjoying LBP1 - so I'm in no hurry for LBP2 - but I'll definitely check out whatever they have to offer when the time comes.
