Default My Vizio Rocks !!

Why hate Vizio. I used to think Vizio was pure crap. That's only because I was reading this forum.

I bought a Vizio for the bedroom TV. I was shocked at how good the PQ is.

I bought a 37" set and I'm very happy.

I was planning on buying a Sammy 55" LED LCD. Now, I might wait and see how the Vizio LED's look.

Any other people here who are happy with their Vizio's ???

Come on,, don't be scared,,,, come out of the closet.

I'm glad you like your Vizio but my experience with them was unbelievable. I bought a plasma that would actually freeze up if you used the HDMI inputs. I was getting ready to send my 360 in for repairs til I found on AVS that this was the TV itself. When it was actually working it had a nice picture (it used Panasonic glass) but it also suffered from severe image retention (this was a late 2008 plasma). I returned it and went with a Kuro.

Personally I find that Vizio is a brand that looks good on paper with all the specs you could want with a nice price tag, but when you actually compare PQ it's never going to match a top tier brand.

I like my Vizio. The PQ is solid. If money weren’t an issue I’d go with a top end model from one of the big brands, but for the price I paid, I’m satisfied by the Vizio.

...and it's not meant too, so, that line is really just non-sense.

i'm glad you like your vizio and i'm glad you are happy with your purchase. personally, i would consider getting a vizio as a secondary tv (such as a bedroom tv or a tv for a kids room) but would not consider them for my main HT tv. i would go with either Panasonic, Sony, or Samsung for my main tv. again, this is just my personal take on vizio but i am glad you enjoy your new tv!

I enjoy my 42" plasma (720p), sometimes, more than my 56" Sammy DLP. I just love the shiny glass front of a plasma...my preference in appearance.

My neighbor's HDMI port didn't work out of the box..... but I'm sure that happens with lots of brands/models.....

My big issue in them (since I know nothing about their longevity or any other brand's longevity for that matter) is the fact that I think they look goofy.... I don't get the "V" shaped speakers along the bottom, etc....

With that said, my next T.V. purchase (not my main display) will be made based on how it looks when it's not turned on..... I don't care if it's 720p or 1080p and I don't care about the refresh rate etc..... I don't even care if it's plasma or LCD..... I just need something that looks good when it's not turned on.....

Obviously my scenario doesn't tap into the pulse of the average consumer, but aesthetics do play a heavy role.... if it is going to be a T.V. in your living room etc... you certainly want it to look good when it's not on too.

I've been bragging about my Vizio on here for months, Sherm. I love it, and when my 2-year replacement deal at Sam's is up in August, I'm going to get another Vizio. No problems at all, and it looks fantastic.

I still won't touch one. They are good for the money, but when I want something, I save up until I get what I really want, which is not a Vizio. Its not about price/performance, just performance.

I don't think they use the V shaped speaker design anymore

I'm using a SONY KDL-52XBR5 tv in my living room. For 1/4 the price, my bedroom tv( Vizio VO47LFHD ) keeps up well enough with the SONY, when feed a hi-def signal[ OTA( 720p & 1080i ), DVHS( 1080i ), Blu-ray( 1080p ), Oppo DV-983H upscaled DVD( 1080p ) ].
I know the contrast ratio, black level, etc. aren't the best, but I'm satisfied.

living room

bedroom

OTA 1080i tv signal

DVHS 1080i movie ( ALIEN, I can't wait until this comes out on Blu-ray )

DVHS source( Marantz MV8300 )

I'm still learning how to take screen shots with my camera.

I've purchased 5 Vizio televisions over the past 2 years. One for myself, the others for relatives. The only one that had a problem was a 32" plasma I bought for my mother. Five days after the 1 year warranty expired, the power supply crapped out. I replaced it for her with a 32" Vizio LCD tv along with a 3 year $40 extended warranty.

I owned Vizio 42" 1080p LCD TV for over two years. Perhaps their bad reputation stems from the fact that out of the box, Vizios are grossly out of calibration. Look in Coscos and Sams Clubs sitting next to Samsung or Sony. The PQ is looks bad until you get it adjusted. After I got mine calibrated, I was happy for the next two years.

Then I got the 50" + screen size fever. After looking at the Vizio 55", a Panasonic 54" plasma, 52" Toshiba, and then the 52" Sony Bravias, I ended up liking the PQ of the Sony Bravia KDL 52V5100 which cost about $300 more than the others that I just listed but still in my price range.

Holy crap, I never realized what I was missing: the blackest blacks, I mean real blacks that I have ever seen. The contrast was incredible. Now scenes showing space with stars like 2001 or 2010: ASO and others like ID4, showed high contrast truly black space background with the whitest stars (Hollywood usually show stars as white, however not all of them are: OBAFGKM, O and early B stars do look white to human eyes, the others don't.). Now I no longer have stars on a light gray background (not even near black) shown by the Vizio.

Even when viewed nearly 180 deg off axis from my Sony the black space background is far blacker than the Vizio's viewed on axis. The colors on the Sony are more vivid and really stand out more than the Vizio's. I don't have the Sony calibrated in the vivid picture mode either. It's in cinema mode with color temperature set to warm and blacklight nearly off at 3 (scale is 0 to 100). Its set for a dimmer room. And 24p movies on BDs converted to 120 Hz (5:5 pull down) look more like real movies.

I played around with the Sams club Vizio 55" 120 Hz TV in the store since I am familiar with Vizios. But I could never get it to look like the Sony or Samsung 52" TVs on display right next to it. That's why I didn't buy the Vizio.

Vizios aren't bad for the money and are big bang for the buck once you get them calibrated. Even when calibrated they don't stand up against a properly calibrated Samsung, Panasonic plasmas, or Sony Bravia.

Have a 32" Vizio as a bedroom TV. Love it. Considering selling it and getting a larger one.

One thing I really like, because I don't have a receiver in the bedroom, is that their TV speaker sound is good. I went through about 3 other brands that all sounded like crap until I got the Vizio.

Also, their remote is nice and weighty--doesn't feel like a cheap piece of plastic.

PQ is surprisingly good for such a low-priced TV, even at 720p.

I would buy one as a bedroom TV for the wife or as an extra. At this point I'm not so sure I would buy another LCD version of anything though :-( Both of my Samsungs had bad "light" spots and kind of soured my opinion of them.

To Zippo: Which DT speakers are those?

Bill

I think they use SRS audio processing on all their newer televisions.
