Default Netflix's response to delaying titles!!

I quit Netflix a while back due to inflated Blu prices.

They asked me to "come back"

I called to talk to a rep and asked why they are delaying titles (like it was their decision).

His response was quite comical.

"We are trying to reduce wait times. By putting a hold on titles we are able to acquire more copies, so after the 28 days have passed we will not have as long a wait" I said so now I automatically have to wait one month for some new titles, how does that help? He fumbled and said that Inglorious Basterds is still in his queue!! What a salesman.

Safe to say I am done with Netdix!!

The 28 day delay means Netflix will pay a lower cost per disc. Having a lower disc cost means you can buy more of them. More discs means lower wait times. That's the train of thought. There is one major unstated premise here: The money saved on lower disc cost will be used to buy more discs. If it is you will have lower wait times, but these wait times won't even start until the actual disc is available to Netflix.

Nobody can beat the price of netflix with there streaming included!Look at the video rental places going out of business because of the movie industy changes. You already know they would rather stream movies than send them out look at the savings in shipping alone.I wont even get into the delay thing because if you want to watch it YOU WILL BUY IT!

Netflix sucks.

I hate um now.

The streaming looks really bad on my PS3 when I tried it. Worse than DVD. Like damaged VHS. I guess my internet connection is poor.

This delaying titles is just a message to the customer. A message that Netflix was too good to be true and they are making adjustments to bring it back to what they think it "should" be.

I hope they fail, hard.

Seriously, don't kid yourself. Every time Netflix has jacked prices, or added a surcharge, they do so with the guise of "we can buy more discs." History has shown this does not in fact happen. The extra money goes right into the profit center. Netflix stock is at an all time high hovering around the $100 mark. You don't reach stock prices like that unless you have some serious profit. Netflix agreed to the delay to boost their bottom line and get movies cheaper. They do not care about their members. No one out there should fool themselves into thinking Netflix is doing this for the good of its membership!

Just for comparison sake, three years ago the stock was around $15.00. It began shooting up after the Blu-ray surcharge and price hikes.

+1,00000000

companies are not out for our best interest. they only care about our best interests when it solidifies their bottom line. I'm not saying this out of blind "all companies hate us" but rather out of a solid understanding of economics and business practices.

Every for-profit company is looking our for its bottom line. The goal of Netflix (Blockbuster, etc.) is to maximize profits while providing a service attractive enough to get people willing to pay for it.

That is complete BS! Netflix is doing well because it offers consumers the most bang for their buck. I would say that the online streaming has helped their bottom-line more than Blu-Ray access. I spend the $8 per month for streaming more than anything else. I will rent the occasional DVD for a TV series or something but for the most part Netflix is strictly for streaming. I wouldn't waste my time renting Blu Rays. If it is something I really want to see in HD I will just buy it. To be honest there isn't that much out there I feel like I need to see or should own. So buying a Blu-Ray here and there isn't a big deal. Netflix plan for the future is to eliminate disc by mail distribution entirely. Eventually Netflix will offer all of their titles via streaming. There is a reason they are called Netflix and not Discs-by-mail! Your complaints don't really matter in the overall scheme of things because Netflix is using the money to buildup their servers and prepare for full streaming of all content. This is coming sooner than most people believe and since technology only improves I would not be surprised to see the entire Netflix library available online by 2012.

I stream videos at least once or twice per day. Totally worth the $10.99 I pay for this plus BD access.

Many disagree, but I too feel Netflix is a good value, even with the Blu-ray surcharge. They earned my loyalty early on, mainly due the the superior selection and fast turnaround, but I admit with all the latest developments my loyalty has gone from "fanboy" to merely "satisfied customer" status.

Netflix is still the cheapest and best deal around for the money with or without Blu-Ray. People balking about wait times should try Blockbuster or some of the other disc-by-mail services available. After that I can promise you won't ever complain about Netflix again!
