Default The Empty Man

I don't quite understand why "The Empty Man" is still not released on Blu-ray. It's a Fox title, so the rights are now owned by Disney, at least in Europe.
I contacted Disney via Facebook here in Germany, but as usual uncomfortable inquiries are not answered by them.
So far there is only one official release in Australia, but only on DVD.
Season 9 (1984) of American Horror Story, also a victim of that damn Disney, will probably never be released on disc either.
So far only Bootleg DVD´s are available...even on Amazon!
It´s a shame!!!

Didn’t make enough money and was dumped on streaming. There is a US DVD release but it’s only available in Redbox rental kiosks for $3.99 to buy. No artwork or actual dvd case included.

Any thoughts on this movie? I've heard generally positive things. It was interesting to learn it's directed by David Prior, known to many of us as one of the bigger name DVD supplements producers.

I thought it was pretty good. The pace is slow but it didn't bother me at all, the score was great, and there were some pretty creepy moments. The film is sort of similar to Candyman, though it also has a slow-burn detective like feel to it. If you enjoy films like The Wailing also I'd say give this a chance.

The Director nailed the atmosphere, I'm not sure if you ever read any Cullen Bunn, but they did him justice imo. At first I thought the runtime would be too long but, the creepiness in its atmosphere kept me going and once the cult stuff started I was pretty glued.

Hopefully someone will try and put Basilisk (which is very similar to Empty Man) or Last Book You'll Ever Read (which is basically In The Mouth Of Madness meets The Bodyguard) on screen, I'd for sure give them a watch.

It’s very possibly the best directed film to still do absolutely nothing for me I’ve ever seen. Voluptuous cinematography, solid performances, a strong directorial eye (it’s screamingly obvious David Prior was paying a lot of attention while working on David Fincher shoots), and yet it all basically summed up as big “meh” for me in the end.

Needs a blu-ray. Will be a cult classic!

Watched this in HBOMax - 2-1/4 hours of my life I will never get back.

But for those who want it in blu-ray - here's hoping they will listen to you!

The opening 22 minutes is the best part. Very eerie and suspenseful. It's a shame the rest of the film doesn't hold up as well, but I still enjoyed it a lot. There are at least a couple of bootleg BD-Rs available, which I purchased one because I don't ever see it getting a legit release. Damn shame that so many films get this shabby treatment.

I just watched it for free on some movie tube site.
I wouldn´t call it a horrorfilm, it´s more like a mainstream mystery that is way too long and not exactly what I expected. I was disappointed to say the least.
A new "cult classic"? Häh? There must be another film out there called "The Empty Man"....a good one!

I really like this movie and can't believe it's not considered worthy of realase anywhere. It manages to switch direction on more than one occasion without feeling forced or out of place, delivering detective noir, folk horror and supernatural wierdness seemlessly.
It's long and not as pacey as people expect these days, but it pays out on the investment of watching.

Another big fan of this under appreciated movie here. Asides from the rental-exclusive DVD (which I bought from Redbox for $4), this movie seems to be a digital-only release, which is really a dang shame.

If anything, they should give this movie a proper Blu-ray/DVD (or even Ultra HD Blu-ray), even if it’s a DMC exclusive release. (Maybe that’ll convince me to sub to the service)

Loved this film but I doubt there will ever be a blu-ray of it. But I'm willing to be wrong and eat my shoe.

This is the future we kind of knew we'd get when every studio started putting out their own streaming service.

Yes, many movies are still being released physically, but it's fewer, and it still feels like over time it'll be fewer still.

I'm interested in this movie, but not enough to sign up to a streaming service to watch it.

Is there anywhere we can poke and prod to garner interest in a physical release?

I just bought the digital version. It was on sale for $4.99 (in 4K, and MA-compatible) last year, and I had enough Amazon No-Rush Rewards credits to cover it.

IMO one of the best horror films I've ever seen. I really want to own it on blu or 4k...possibly a director's cut. It's only going to grow in stature and cult status...I believe it will eventually get a release. C'mon....somebody?!?!
