Default July.............kind of a sucky bluray month?

Is it just me, or from here on out is it slim pickins until we hit the monster that is August 3?
I don't mind, since the second half of the year is gonna slam me pretty good, but it just seems like four weeks of absolutely nothing. Probably netflix the Criterions, but that's about it.

imo I was thinking the exact same thing a few weeks ago when I was looking at all the release dates.
but there are certainly a few great titles like "Steamboat Bill" which came out today, and, of course, "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo".
I've been dying to see that Swedish version.

Yeah, i meant to highlight the "from here on out" part of my post. Today was solid, but sheesh the next couple of weeks looks like we're getting spared to death.

Yeah it's a bit slow but summer months typically are anyways. The studios don't want us spending all our money in the summer for movies at home they want us watching their movies in the theater and then buying them in Sept-Dec when they come out!

These are the only buys for me this July:

Insomnia
Cop Out

Jason and the Argonauts is such a well done classic that it makes July a great month for BD.

I actually don't mind. In two weeks, I'll be getting The Losers and The Runaways, which are two movies I've been really looking forward to. The rest of this month being slow has allowed me to somewhat catch up on watching other movies in my collection.

now that i've decided against buying anything and everything i'm enjoying not having my wallet smashed to pieces every tuesday. for me personally, auagust will be crushing, but otherwise i have only a few purchases left this year (i hope).

AUGUST
Dexter: season 4
Lost: season 6
Lost: the complete series

SEPTEMBER
Fringe: season 2
The Office: season 6
American Beauty

and then whenever the hell the Deadwood complete series and Toy Story 3 comes out (guessing October / November). that's all i'm looking forward to. but still, brutal times are coming for all!

Well, it is the Summer movie season. Everyone is at the theater or spending time outside in the nice hot weather. Not exactly the best time to release BDs.

It's definately a slow month, but that is a very good thing. I've only got these three domestic releases to buy:

Brooklyn's Finest
Repomen
Insomina

August/September are going to be a pain because of all the TV shows coming out: Dexter, Glee, Fringe, Chuck, Supernatural, Smallville, Big Bang Theory... I can hear my Visa screaming Nooo, and the banks going Yes, Yes!

Still waiting for a Target or Best Buy $15 sale on recent releases. Yes the July releases suck, thought I was the only one that noticed.

Clash of the Titans and Puppet Master are the only ones I'm anticipating this month.

But just as well, I need time to recover after June.

With August, there's Kick-Ass, National Lampoon's Vacation, Dexter-Season 4, Simpsons-Season 13, Time Bandits, and Evil Dead.

Yup, there's nothing definite for me this month because I haven't seen any of them. So all rentals first. Which is good because I need to save money because I'm going broke, literally.

I'm with many of you in saying that I'm glad it's a slow month (nothing at all I'm going to get)...need time to recharge the blu ray cash flow...especially for those monster sets that are coming out shortly like:

Fringe Season 2
Back to the Future Trilogy
Dexter Season 4
Lost Complete Collection
Alien Anthology

Now is the time to begin all bargain hunting and decide where we're gonna get these and if we can bear to wait for prices to lower after release...how long will the will power hold out....on some it will be a "Lost" cause... (badumbum)

Absolutely, summer sucks for quality blu ray releases.
But what an autumn and winter are we going to have.

July is a total dead month to me, although I'm considering buying Insomnia, but other than that, nothing. Last new BD I bought was Book of Eli on June 15th and I had been buying a new movie almost every week for awhile up until after then. August will be a dead month too, besides Road to Perdition, which will be a day one and then can't wait to pick up Se7en and Bloodsport/Timecop in September!

Works for me. I'm going to save up for Black Friday and go crazy again this year. Got my first HDTV last Black Friday, looking to maybe get my first receiver this year.
