I have this already. I wonder if it's just an identical re-release.

This'll probably be another Sony Classics release with a fancy slipcover. I have no objection to that! Although, why is everything coming out October 1st? There's the Hitchcock set, the Universal Monsters set, Singin' in the Rain and a Joy Division book that I want.

But those re-releases never have a definite release date. It just seems like they replace the regular editions without any notice. It happened to Dr. Strangelove and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

Ah, good point. I wonder what this will be, then.

I don't know, it could have just been an error. It would be helpful if the OP could provide a link or at least tell us where he got the information in case he missed out some details.

KingSimba knows all! I think he gets his information directly from the distributors.

So how can I get into contact with Sony about their Blu-ray releases, do you know an email for them as I would love to ask them a few questions about various releases?

IMO this is the worst Dracula film ever. They just can't catch the right mood anymore.

Don't know why they made a point of calling it Bram Stoker's Dracula when it takes major liberties with the book. The BBC TV series from the 1970s is still the best adaptation for me. Its about time someone filmed or made a hugely expensive TV series of Kim Newman's brilliant Anno Dracula books

Visually a feast, I just hope this rerelease includes an Italian soundtrack, as I sure aint listening to it in English ever again!

And Coppola could restore the MPAA/studio cuts to the gore scenes too!

Francis Ford Coppola includes the author's name in the title when the movie is based on a novel. So it's "Mario Puzo's The Godfather" when the movie takes huge liberties with that novel as well. It isn't a measure of how close the movie follows the novel.

And apart from Keanu Reeves' English "accent", I love this movie. It's as big and broad as an Italian opera, that I honestly don't care that it takes a few liberties with the novel. The one with Bela Lugosi does it as well, and that's the most well known version of the character.

At the moment I'm reading the graphic novel which is for people who aren't smart enough to read the book (people like me), on the back it says it's also available in Quick Text which is 'the full story in quick modern English for a fast-paced read' the graphic novel is pretty close to Coppola's film (apart from the beginning) so far....

I quite enjoy the film but I think one of the Nosferatu's is probably more accurate. My Dad says Frank Langella's Dracula is one of his favourites, and I also love Shadow of a Vampire which is an almost forgotten William Dafoe master class comic/tragic performance!

It more than likely will be one of the Sony Classics, because this film was released in another country (can't remember which one) as one of the Sony Classics. I suspect that we may get at least one more re-release too.

I had to study this film on a course I was doing when I first left school.

I remember some fool blurting out 'Dracula would have AIDS nowadays' after the shaving/no mirror reflection scene.

I later asked him why he said it, he replied 'the way he just licked the blood off the razor..' I was 'Yeh, but you do know he'd been drinking blood daily for three centuries, heals when damaged and is technically immortal?' To which he said 'right, but still, just getting right into that blood yaknow he could have had anything'

Love this film though, if only for Sadie Frost.

Anyone notice how Gary Oldman 2012 is really starting to resemble Gary Oldman Count Dracul 1992?!

I guess at the time of publication blood types and transfusions were becoming more scientific and people were probably scared about the whole process, so whether the novel played upon that fact as both Lucy and Nina are given donations from four or five men to sustain them after Dracala has bitten them.

But as you said a flying dude who can change shapes, control the weather and disappear into the mist is going to be pretty much immune from anything.....
