USA 2011-2012 Season...Any Early Predictions?

Which new shows will get canned early on, the ones that stand a chance of being a hit?

Charlie Angels: I think this reboot will get cancelled early on. Didn't see anything special in the promo to compell me to tune in.

NBC's Playboy: While it's premise is better suited for cable, I'll give Nothing But Clueless the benefit of the doubt on this one. This could be a hit or at least last one season.

Here is my list and for the one's I don't have added I'm still undecided or just don't care for the show enough to have seen a trailer to make a real judgment.

One's I think will be hits

Apartment 23
Grimm
Person of Interest
The River
Terra Nova
Alcatraz
Secret Circle
The Finder

Possibles

Playboy Club
Revenge
Hart of Dixie
Ringer
Bent
Awake

I don't think Awake gets more than 3 episodes. It's plot is too complicated for the average viewer and while I could see it being good it wouldn't surprise me if viewers don't even give it a chance, as was the case with Awake creator Kyle Killen's previous show Lone Star. It's possible Awake could get more episodes if it gets a good timeslot when it premieres in midseason but I doubt that happens.

Supernatural themed shows are in vogue right now, notice a few on your list Dectective. You're probably right, they stand a good chance of taking off.

I like Bilson, but "Heart of Dixie" sounds bit fluffy to be taken seriously as a heard hitting Medical drama. If it does well, the CW is the best possible chance it has.

Ringer: Think SMG will be looking for work again soon, hope I'm wrong though.

The girl can act, why can't she score another hit show?

I expect a few possible successes, but mostly a lot of failures. Doesn't necessarily reflect how I feel about the shows, just how I see it playing out.

Possible Successes:

Alcatraz
Apartment 23
Person of Interest
Secret Circle
New Girl
2 Broke Girls
Hart of Dixie (50/50 chance at best)
Last Man Standing
Prime Suspect
Ringer

Canceled:

Charlie's Angels
Terra Nova (It'll be a spectacular failure though)
Grimm
Playboy Club
Pan Am
Suburgatory
Revenge
Awake
The River
Once Upon a Time
Unforgettable
Free Agents
I Hate My Teenage Daughter
Whitney
A Gifted Man

Terra Nova looks to be quite an expensive production, it better take off quick with huge ratings in order to stand a chance.

I can't imagine Grimm succeeding. It couldn't have gotten a worse time slot, going up against Supernatural and Fringe, which has the same target audience. A lot of people will give up on the show before it starts because they'll be out on Friday nights and will have their DVRs recording Supernatural and Fringe. It doesn't have any big-name actors to bring fans in.

Pretty sad list Wylde but in the end probably being true for most of those shows. I still think River and Terra Nova stand a chance though and hopefully Grimm does better then Chuck as it's Chucks last season and they need a new Friday show so hopefully Grimm can prove to them that's it at least does good enough for Friday's as it seems to be a dark Supernatural show and a little different from the Supernatural/Fringe crowd but not much.

After seeing it listed on back to back Upfronts and nothing but delay after delay, and showrunner problems and special effects issues, I have absolutely no faith that this succeeds. It's too many problems for a show that is still months away from premiere. It'll be a spectacular failure, but I'm about 99% sure it will be a failure.

Do you know how many freshman shows between ABC, NBC and CBS from last years crop were renewed? I can only name one, Raising Hope.

Oh never knew that. I only know Mike & Molly, Hawaii-Five 0 and Raising Hope. They don't have much of chance then

I'll tune in for Jason O'Mara and Stephen Lang, then hope for the best.

Fox will plug and promote the hell out of it, as they should.

Didnt know Mike was renewed, and I forgot about Hawaii, I was thinking that was a mid-season.

Yeah Mike got renewed and is also one of the lucky one's to actually get a Blu-ray release out of every other show they have.

As I recall, both Hawaii 5-0 and Mike and Molly did well right out the gate.

Also Blue Bloods, as well as midseason shows Harry's Law, Happy Endings, and Body Proof. It was a really bad year for new shows though with no big hits.

Yeah both did good right off from the pilot. Happy to as I love Hawaii Five 0 and find Mike & Molly enjoyable from the few episodes I have seen.

From what little I've seen of Hawaii 5-0, Scott Caan is the breakout star on that show IMH0. Alex O'Loughlin is nice to look at and a decent actor, still feel his best work was on Moonlight. Even though he was ocassionally upstaged by Jason Dohring.

Wylde, I think your list is pretty close to accurate. I still hold out hope Terranova will turn alright, but the rest of your list is close to right and I think thats all the stuff we won't see by the end of next year's season. Charlie's Angels will be DOA with it's timeslot, and as much as I want Awake to do well, it's far too complicated for normal audiences I think...

Yeah still can't believe the slot they put Charlie's Angels in. One of the most competitive nights and is no place for a new show as most Thursday night shows already have it's loyal fan's while Angels may get some for the pilot will quickly die off week 2.
