USA Amazon Gold Box DotD: The Wire Complete Series DVD set for $89.99--worth a blind buy?
The Amazon Gold Box Deal of the Day is for The Wire Complete Series DVD box set at $89.99. Apparently the lowest this has ever been was $81.99 in a similar GB deal in January. It usually goes for ~$129.99 apparently.

Is it worth a blind buy? I've never seen the series but I love cerebral, thought-provoking television, and crime dramas...

EDIT: And I read the show would need to be re-scanned for HD from the film elements (is this true?) so a BD release would likely be a long while, if ever.
