Default DC Showcase - Superman Shazam Return of Black Adam Nov 9th

On November 9th they will be releasing all 4 shorts in one collection in extended forums and include the never before 22 minute short Superman/Shazzam: The Return of Black Adam. I will be skipping this release as I will already own the only short I want and am still mad the Green Arrow was reduced to a short.

Quote:
Warner Home Video, in conjunction with DC entertainment has announced the introduction of the DC Showcase, a series of animated shorts featuring characters from the DC Comics vault. On November 9, 2010, WHV will release DC Showcase: Superman/Shazam!: The Return of the Black Adam. An online digital copy will exclusively be offered with the Blu-ray.

DC Showcase animated shorts initially appeared as special bonus content on the 2010 slate of DC Universe Animated Original Movies. The 10- to 12-minute films include The Spectre, Jonah Hex and Green Arrow. All three titles will be presented in extended formats along with the first-ever release of Superman/Shazam! The Return of Black Adam.

Special features include:
Commentaries by renowned writers Steve Niles, Joe Lansdale, Greg Weisman and Michael Jelenic (BD-exclusive)
Four animation shorts (est. 62 min)
Four additional bonus TV series episodes handpicked by Bruce Timm

I collect the DC Animated films, but I too will be skipping this one. None of them interested me enough to make a seperate purchase. For fans of the shorts, though, I'm happy they are getting a release.

Why couldn't Captain Marvel get his own real feature, instead of a short? Most of us have seen the other shorts already. They better throw on a ton of interesting bonus features.

Very interested in seeing the new Superman/Shazam short, but it looks like the others I've already seen from the various DCU movies released thus far. Pass, until it's dirt cheap.

I'll pass assuming the Shazam short will come with the next feature, assumably in 2011.

Nope. Supposed to be exclusive to this set according to the panel at SDCC.

It's rather lame frankly, as I already own the movies the shorts are contained on.

I could maybe understand if there was a dozen or more. But sheesh. What a rip.

Would be nice if it at least had some interesting documentary on the history of Shazam.

Looks like we'll at least be getting audio commentaries on the shorts. So that's something.

Hopefully Best Buy will at least pack it with a Shazam figure, to make it worthwhile.

Bonus features include:

"Four additional bonus TV series episodes handpicked by Bruce Timm"

Are they ripe? Did he squeeze them?

This isn't a "Bonus" to me - I already own them. I call it "Filler", or a "Rerun" at best. Definitely not a "bonus".

The "Showcase" idea is great & maybe it can become an ongoing series. The Superman / Shazam short sounds wonderful. Hope they do more Showcases, but release them on their own with all new content. Recycling shorts is not good.

Default DC Showcase: Superman/Shazam!: The Return of the Black Adam - November 9th

I know the 3 other shorts (Jonah Hex, Green Arrow, Spectre) will already be available by the time this is released, but is anyone else picking this up? DC never disappoints with cover art either this will be an awesome cover/slipcover

Hmmm, still think it's a tad of a rip off but nice to see the previous shorts are extended at least. Hopefully it will have some great extras to make up for the lack of content. Nice cover to boot although seems much different in tone and style than previous covers.

I said in the other thread... this will have to get under $10 before I even consider it since I already have the other 3 shorts on other DC movies.

Paying $20 for a new 22 minute short and maybe 5 minutes of "extended" is just too much.

People scream over a $30 new release movie... so I'm really surprised there has not been major backlash at DC/Warner releasing this for $20.

Yep, they sold me on the double length of the new feature (22 min), and a minute or two more on the others doesnt hurt. I dont mind at all having these separated in my collection.

Will get the BB figure but may be giving up on them because the older figs are impossible to track down (just started with Crisis, have the older ones on DVD). Unless the Target disc has good eps.... I remember an announcement for this saying MULTIPLE new shorts as well as the originals extended would be offered, oh well. Hoping for killer PQ and lossless audio (would be a for Spectre and Hex who only have had lossy audio, another reason to get this)
