Default Xbox 360 repair.....

Any one here "fix" there 360 by using screws on the xclamps on the heat sinks? If so, did you overheat the system after you were done to "reflex" the soldier? And if so how long, I see times range from 3 minutes to 15.

I usually see if it initially fires up green (in most cases on 1st fix it will). If its a redo (yes, most of them will break later on, this is not as permenent as some would think)...then I let it run with the red ring (once fixed) without the fan plugged until it overheats and goes to 2 red rings, then tighten screws 1/4 turn and allow to cool. Fire it up and go.

yeah, I went ahead and overheated the first 1 and got that console running, updating system, cleaning hard drive took about a hour, then went to go play a game and the disc drive didnt work. D'OH!! So I fixed the disc drive and now have a working console ( that was given to me for free ). I fixed another free console this week, it just need some extra cooling though, cut some holes in the case, mounted some fans. Its easier than I thought it would be and a lot of fun just tinkering with these things.
