Default Should Disney combine digital copy and DVD discs?

Yeah because newer Disney releases are like 4 discs, they should minimize it to 3 discs or less to fit on the standard slim Blu-ray case. I prefer them over the fat Blu-ray case.

I agree! 4 discs is a LOT! Even super special deluxe anniversary editions are 2 or 3-disc editions.

do it the way they been doing it. Shoot...alone the prices are spot on....they should be $30.00 or more considering the 4 Disc Ver.!!!

I dont see why every studio doesnt combine the DVD and Digital copy. That way the digital copy disc isnt a complete waste after its been used.

having both the blu-ray and the DVD is Cool that way you get more for the money. but IMO the "Digital Copy" should be something you should get from the studio's web site and/or your cell phone provider instead of wasting a disc. not everyone wants to view a film on a little tiny screen. like that "Avatar" on your cell Commercial.

Combine it with the DVD or provide a download coupon to download it off of iTunes. Digital copy discs are a waste as they can only be used once. Moreover, making a digital copy from a DVD is really not that hard!

Definitely do it the WB way and combine the two so the digital copy isn't a complete waste.

I should imagine it's purely down to economics. They're already producing a DVD only version for a standalone release, and the added cost of putting in an extra disc for a digital copy is probably less than mastering a separate DVD and digital copy version for the Blu Ray release.

Since web authorization is required anyway, why don't they skip the extra disc entirely and just give a download code? The only current benefit for me of including a digital copy disc is that if I have the dvd version of a blu-ray I have, I can swap cases so both the dvd and blu-ray fit in one case.

Exactly. Having the digital copy on a separate disc from the DVD disc is a complete waste of plastic.

Digital Copy should always be on the same disc as something because after you redeem them the disc is instant garbage.

I hate digital copies but I DL the Itune ones just because they are there.

I have to agree with BellesPrince on economics being a factor. But yes everyone should combine DVD copy discs and Digital Copy discs. Maybe they just think it sounds more appealing as a 4 disc set and don't care about being wasteful.

...Um, last time I checked, I'm pretty certain they DO give us a download code?
(What with Disney being so tied into Steve Jobs's iTunes, and all.)

As for the DVD disk, as noted, it's the same one as the cheap customers get--Waste not, want not.
And as for "4-disks", my psychic powers believe you're referring to Fantasia/s, which is (1BD+1SD)x2, ie. one for each movie. No extra disks for content, much as we would love one.

Of course they DO, but when I said just the download code I meant only the code. I suppose I should have said just the download code instead of a download code.

I'm for combining the DC and DVD, but for the record, I like Disney's fat cases.

Before we get an attitude he is saying that there should be a web address to go to and enter the code, that is what was done with Half-Blood Prince. And as for 4 discs, he is addressing Up and Monsters Inc. which had two BDs, one DVD and one DC disc... And a three disc version would be like Prince of Persia where there is one BD disc, one DVD disc, and one DC disc. So not at all Fantasia's. I agree with Hatter because the first time I had a combo disc was Sherlock Holmes and that meant more compression so a lower quality DVD, and it also means we are getting a lower quality disc then the cheapo buyers of the single disc DVD.... there is something wrong with that. So the cheapo people get a better DVD disc then us? Oh heck no, there is something wrong with that. WE get the best as buyers of the most expensive/biggest/special edition. I want the same single DVD others get or better. End rant.

I personally don't mind. Most of the time the DC is in a paper sleave (like for Prince of Persia) and having a good quality for DVD helps too because my dad lol, doesn't like going into our theater room to watch blu-rays so I just hook him up with the DVD version in the family room.

They should but they probably won't since they see more discs as more value and thus more money

I don't know if anyone else bought Superman/Batman Apocalypse on Blu-ray last week, but it included a DVD/Digital Copy combo disc for the first time for a DC animated DTV film. The DVD copy did appear to be fairly low quality, but I only watched some of it right after watching the Blu so I don't know. Do most of these combo discs actually have lower quality than the standard DVDs do or is that only some of the time? I have been selling some of these to a coworker, maybe I should check the quality of them before I do next time.

Oddly enough on that one the DVD/Digital Copy combo disc actually included the DC Showcase short Green Arrow, which was not included on the retail single disc version of the film (you would have needed to get the 2-disc special edition to get it on DVD). It just seemed kind of weird to pack extra content into a spare throwaway disc like that.
