I see this movie is coming out soon or recently has, but I don't see the 3D version being released yet.

Is it coming out simultaneously with the 2d release?

There was no 3D version of this movie. It was originally planned for 3D, but then the filmmakers changed their minds. 2D only.

I just wanted to know if anyone knew if they are going to release this in 3D. I know it was in 3D in theaters, but they never put out a 3D blu ray. I watched The Watch last night and Vince Vaughn is in Costco checking out a Samsung 3D TV and he is watching Alvin and the Chipmunks on it.

I believe production of the 3D version was cancelled. It wasn't 3D in theaters.

Agreed.

The singing chipmunks is an acquired taste, in that I would pass even if it was in 3D. Some people will enjoy it though. I enjoy the Chipmunks' classic Christmas songs, but this is all modern music stuff.
