Default Hot pixel fix?

I have a 4 years old lcd samsung tv that sudenly got a complete vertical line of (what I've read from google searches) hot pixels.

I'm not too sure to understand that hot pixel thing, but the line is usually green when the screen is white and turns red on black screens.

I've try to used the Q-Tip trick that somes seems to recommend, and it work for maybe a 1/5 of the line, but the other 4/5 just got wider.

I've also seen that there is some software (some are free some are paid) that supposely help. Any suggestion on them? is there any use to buy a fix blu-ray or other tricks that can help?

I'm not ready financially at all to buy a new screen this year, I wanted to jump in the 3d tv maybe next year or so, so I would like to extend the life of my current one the more I can.
