Default No Voice Control for Kinect at Launch!!!

http://n4g.com/news/591193/no-voice-...-kinect-launch

Apparently, its not fully ready so they are scrapping it at launch. It will arrive at a later date

Update - It will not support Voice Control for Dashboard at launch.

No Euro Kinect voice rec until spring - Eurogamer

Microsoft has told Eurogamer Spain that Kinect voice recognition will be disabled for mainland Europe until spring 2011.

The company confirmed rumours that the voice-recognition software will only accept American English, British English, Japanese and Mexican Spanish at launch this November. Even Canadians will have to wait until spring 2011 to be able to control the system via voice.

Frustratingly, even those fluent in English - or Spanish speakers that can imitate Mexican Spanish - won't be allowed to activate Kinect voice recognition due to the region-locked status of their Xbox 360.
Oh Microsoft.....

Is anyone REALLY surprised? This is what MS do in all of their markets; release something that's not ready then release patches and market them as free bonus updates (you lucky customer you!)

I've always thought the tech behind Kinect is very clever, but I continue to doubt how it can offer gamers something really compelling.

It's like they invented it backwards; it doesn't meet a need that gamers are looking for (I've NEVER heard anyone say they want a console with no controller), rather, they are trying to create a need for something they've come up with in the hope of stretching out the lifespan of the 360.
