Question Disc skipping questions

I don't know much about blu ray technology so maybe someone here can answer this for me. I bought the Life set and have just been watching it to make sure the discs all play fine before my return period is up. I was watching part of it tonight when at one point the picture froze and then restarted about 10 seconds ahead. The disc is not scratched and the set was bought new. I backed up that section and have watched it a few more times and it did not do it again. Since it didn't happen every time, does that mean it is not the disc but is something to do with my player? Or does this happen sometimes with blu ray?

I have only encountered had that issue (skipping forward) with The Forbidden Forest. The studio releasing The Forbidden Forest admitted that it was a disc defect caused in the replication process. I own over 500 BD movies and that is the only instance where I experienced the skipping forward issue.

Did it happen every time you played it? That's where I'm confused. If it happened each time, I'd just exchange it but since it didn't happen the times i replayed it, I don't know if it is the disc.

You may want to see if your firmware is up to date. The few instances I had with this problem on my previous Philips player disappeared once the firmware was updated.

Perhaps there was a smudge on it. Sometimes, when slighty dirty, that can happen.
