Soniq blu Ray player a bit of help...

Hey guys I just bought a sonique player that can be made multiple region. I've ordered a few us locked disc and they work great on the machine. Just a few small problems.can anyone who has the machine answer a few small questions for me? When I turn it on it makes a weird noise almost like a scraping noise. Is this normal or is my machine faulty? Also when I load a disc I get a message saying checking buda then followed by buda playing but with error or something similar then the disc loads up fine. Has any one expieriencet this? I'd like to know so if I've got a faulty machine I can exchange it. Cheers for the help....

That's normal as it happens on mine too. (Ask atexp80 if it does on his unit to confirm)

What's this BUDA error message I see?

If don't have the player connected to the internet the player will display and error message advising that playback errors may occur. It doesn't affect playback, it simply indicates that it won't be able to play the BD-Live components of the disc. Unfortunately taking action like disabling or prohibiting an internet connection will not remove the message, it's replaced with one of a different type. A minor annoyance but the player will function without error.

Mine works just fine. My old Samsung makes noises like that too. Does anyone have a player thats silent? I must get one of them now LOL

Yes, mine makes that noise also at start-up. It's apparently common and no cause for concern.

By the way, whatever you do - DON"T UPDATE THE FIRMWARE! It removes the region free ability.

Cheers for the help guus. Yeah it is a bit of a nasty sound when you turn it on. Otherwise it's running great watched the evil dead us disc and return of the living dead and no problems at all.

Got a couple of other quick questions. Do I set it to pal NTSC or multi? and what produces a better image rgb or the yc option? I have a Sony Bravia 1080p 200hz tv. Cheers

Mine is set to multi as Aussie TVs are capable of displaying both PAL/NTSC content and therefore it's not an issue. Can't recall the colour settings off the top of my head but I believe they were RGB and 8-bit?...

ThereS 2 settings rgb, and one that says something like ycrbc or something similar.(sorry not at home to check) I've heard the second option is better in general for any equiptment with the setting. Just curious to find out
