Thumbs down The Disappointments of Blu-ray 3D<--The hardware manufacturers and Exclusives

Blu-ray 3D is killing itself with all these Hardware exclusives. I wanna get a 3D TV, but which should I buy? Now the obvious problem is , If I buy one, I cant get the other desired 3D movies that comes as as Hardware exclusives and if I do I have to rebuy the TV to get it, RIDICULOUS!!!

I would love to have Alice and Avatar in 3D , but you know at this point I am so frustrated with the whole process and these games the studios are playing I am not gonna buy from anyone who offers exclusives. I think Ill just buy a conversion kit for my Mits DLP and save a bunch of money. This is becoming a JOKE and really starting to piss me off!!

Anyone else feel the same way?

(BTW- I posted this here so people, like myself looking to buy 3D can voice their opinions and hopefully these studios realize, they are hurting themselves)

To make matters even more frustrating Toshiba (I think) and Sony are coming out with glasses-free TVs.

But even without the prospect of this new technology I would wait it out. No point in making a rather expensive investment if there's not a considerable catalog out yet.

I'm not going to even worry about it. It's cool to look at, but I don't think I'd enjoy it at home watching a movie.

Blu-ray HD and an HDTV is just fine with me. No need for 3D for me

such are the pains of being an early adopter of any technology. was it so wonderful buying into blu-ray in 2007 when half the discs had lossy audio and MPEG2 video, some major studios didn't release on the format, and for all you knew, it could be dead next week?

the solution is simple as always: wait a few years.

I know it's frustrating and ridiculous, but this is the norm when new stuff comes out. You saw what happened with the HD-DVD people. If you don't want to be disappointed, you are just going to have to wait it out instead of being the first one with a 3D HDTV that you can't even use to your full advantage.

Panasonic is the only brand I've seen whose televisions have impressed me in the slightest. Was very underwhelmed by Samsung's models. Have heard Sony is of about the same quality.

As far as the technology goes, the prices aren't that bad but there's far too few 3D titles out there to warrant owning the technology now. Strange, since there's been plenty of RealD 3D movies over the years that could help sell the technology but aren't yet available in the format.

Not so. Even from day one, early adopters of CD, DVD and Blu-ray had at least a dozen titles to choose from, with more coming out every week.

If you're an early adopter of 3D, what are you going to do? Rewatch Monsters vs Aliens / Ice Age 3 every week?

With the present Home 3D model and what is required: Glasses, a new receiver, a new player, and a new display; I seriously doubt even 5% of American households will have 3D capability by 2015, especially seeing as the economy is tanking even further at the moment. Just wait and watch when the new taxes for employee insurance on small businesses hit and the stimulus funding dries up. Fun, fun.

Ha, exactly! The only 3D blu-rays that would maybe tempt me is STEP UP 3D, PIRAHNA 3D, and AVATAR...

2 good reasons why I have no interest in 3D TV.

Can't forget Cloudy With a Chance of MeatBalls.

That just makes me want to run right out and buy a 3-D T.V.

This is the most absurd marketing plan I've seen. Now they are advertising Avatar and Alice exclusive deals. When the heck are they going to start releasing 3D movies for the general public. If I had a 3D HDTV home theater I'd be pissed.

It's upsetting for those of us who are waiting too. I'm not going to double dip on these movies. I'm only going to buy them with the 3D option, because I can watch them in 2D now, and then 3D when/if I upgrade my system in a couple of years.

And you'd deserve it, because you'd be a fool for buying technology without content.

The samsung my wife got me can be used for 3D but I have no intention of making the jump, she was able to get a killer deal on it so I was all for it.

Sadly, it looks like Blu-ray 3d might have a quick death/short life, looks like a cool idea and all, but all these bloody exclusives make the whole thing confusing.
Only a handful of films would really benefit from BD 3D as well, I have no desire to watch "the classics" in 3D, as they were not filmed that way in the 1st place. The newer films that were filmed w/#D in mind would be great (hence... Avatar)

Default I will pass on the 3D stuff for now

It's still to early. I jumped on Blu-ray early because I knew HD-DVD had issues. But this 3D thing hasn't been out long enough . They don't even know what side effects will be from long exposure.
I'll wait

I think it would be fine to do this.

Have it where it can be like this.

I go to the store find a 3DTV and say Oh I like the Panasonic. What do you know Panasonic gives you a free copy of Avatar 3D. But wait a minute. Samsung gives you How to train your Dragon 3D for free if you buy their tv. Then you think for a second. I get the Panny with Avatar 3D and then Buy How to train your Dragon 3D.

Pretty much what I am saying is. I am fine with Exclusive deals (ONLY if I can go out and have the option to pick out and buy those other movies that(samsung, panny, sammy, etc) are offering to their buyers, free with their purchase).

I think I made sense. Atleast I hope I did lol.

I have even heard how studios are losing money with the 3D films in theaters and it is just not taking off like they thought. I think there are still too many people that are making the transition to Blu or haven't even moved to Blu yet to think about going to 3D.
