Are you talking about regular digital copies or the Ultraviolet ones. I don't think companies are stopping ultraviolet (unfortunately)

I'm really in favour of digital distribution, but more as a subscription service than a digital 'purchase'. I personally don't use those leaflets, but they don't bother me.
I think they bother some here because they may see them as a threat to hard copies, or even to undermine the rational of building a large collection of blu ray disks. Sure, the quality is not as good, but that will come... For me, I love the subscription model and do not see it as a replacement to physical media, but a replacement for broadcast TV and the rental industry (I do not have broadcast TV any longer, just BT Vision and Lovefilm). |

I still prefer blu-ray rentals by post as I always have so much to watch that I simply dont need streaming. |

I've got many Itunes DC's as well as a fair amount of UVs.
I like the idea of them, and have used DC's on occasions when caught out (ending up in hospital over night, was nice to be able to watch a movie, for example) but like others have said, the requirement to sign up for all the differing services is VERY off putting - I refuse to sign up for a 3rd service in order to obtain my Robin Hood and Sword in the Stone digi-copies. I dont seek out the DC/UV copies either, if they come with a release, its a nice bonus, but I dont think I'd miss them if they were gone. I think my buddy has used the UV movies more than me, and of the few itunes copies I DO want on top of the blu-ray copy, I can easily source from elsewhere (not that I torrented a DC for Iron Man or anything...*whistles innocently* ![]() ![]() ![]() That said, I do believe that once we purchase a physical copy, we should be allowed a digicopy of that movie as standard, IF we so desire. None of this 'you have to buy it twice' bollocks. I mean, those of us who still by Physical music Albums gets Mp3 copies or have the easy facilities to rip our own digital copies, and movies should be no different IMO. |

I don't have a problem with them. I think I redeemed a handful at certain points, just for when I was travelling on long journeys and wanted something to watch, but most of mine go unused.
Still, it's nice to have the option and, considering how many different ways people watch films nowadays, I think it's absolutely fair that studios include them for people who want them. Better to have it and not need it than vice versa. |

I think you're getting confused with 'watching films on a tablet', which applies equally to blu ray and digital streaming. |

I have quite a few digital copy / UV codes that I'm not sure what to do with.
1. Sell 2. Redeem and might need them one day. Blu-Ray will defiantly be the last large collection of movies I have. For me streaming beats owning when it comes to digital. I'm a big fan of Netflix and if one company could come along offering everything in my Blu/DVD collection and my wishlist.. I would defiantly sign up. For now I still love collecting physical media and that wont change anytime soon.. but I do see the mainstream shift moving towards digital. I remember tons of people from DVD forums swearing they would never go Blu. I now see some of those people on this site with more then me in their collection. All things move on eventually.. I loved PCs.. then ended up with a laptop as it takes less space.. now it's an iPad I use the most! So my opinion is Blu is king for now.. but never say never! |

It's about digital copies. Watch on mobile or tablet they say. That idea is repulsive to me and no amount of arguing is going to change my mind.

The few that I redeemed were for me to watch on a 17" laptop screen which, while nowhere near as good as watching on my 42" TV at home, is far from 'repulsive' and a handy alternative for when TV and a blu-ray player isn't available.
